BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point received two of the five Patriot League women’s soccer weekly awards presented by PenFed Credit Union, when the League office announced the honors on Monday. Colgate, Lafayette and Loyola Maryland each earned one weekly honor.
Colgate senior forward Ana Schremp earned Patriot League Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal in the 48th minute of the Raiders’ 2-1 win at Navy on Friday.
Lafayette junior midfielder Nadia Zaffanella was named Patriot League Women’s Soccer Midfielder of the Week after netting the equalizer in the 81st minute to help the Leopards rally for a 2-1 victory over American.
Army West Point sophomore defender Daisy West collected Patriot League Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors after scoring her first collegiate goal in the Black Knights’ 4-0 win at Lehigh.
Loyola Maryland junior goalkeeper Hannah Goetzer collected Patriot League Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week after recording a season-high nine saves in her first shutout of the year.
For the third time this season, Army West Point freshman forward Sophia Henry garnered Patriot League Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week as she scored her sixth goal of the campaign.
Honorable mentions went to Army West Point senior midfielder Brigid Duffy, Boston University sophomore goalkeeper Bridget Carr, Bucknell freshman forward Gaby Parker, Colgate senior midfielder Ari Bezanson, Lafayette sophomore defender Camryn Fitch and senior midfielder Sophia Ruggiero and Loyola Maryland graduate student defender Riley Kennel.
The Patriot League women’s soccer players of the week are selected in a vote by League head coaches, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.
