Patriot League Announces Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (3.2.26)

Five Patriot League schools receive weekly honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point, Bucknell, Colgate, Lehigh and Loyola Maryland each received a Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse weekly award when the League office announced the honors on Monday.

Loyola Maryland sophomore attack Mason Cook was honored as the Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week following his eight-goal performance in the Greyhounds’ 13-11 win at Colgate.

Colgate junior defender John Carrabine collected Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week honors after collecting eight ground balls and causing four turnovers in the Raiders’ Patriot League opener.

Bucknell junior Colin McLoy was named the Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Faceoff Specialist of the Week after going 16-for-25 at the ‘X’, while scooping up six ground balls in the Bison’s 12-11 win at Lehigh.

For the second time this season and eighth time in his career, Army West Point senior Sean Byrne earned Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week honors. Byrne made 25 saves and allowed only eight goals across 99 minutes in a 2-0 week for the Black Knights.

For the third time this season, Lehigh’s Finn Morgan was selected as the Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week. The first-year attack scored four goals and dished out two assists in the Mountain Hawks’ Patriot League opener.

Honorable mentions went to Boston University sophomore faceoff specialist Madden Murphy and sophomore goalkeeper Connor Phillips, Bucknell junior attack Sean Berrigan and senior defender Will Pickering, Holy Cross freshman faceoff specialist Shane McDonell, Lafayette sophomore attack Benjamin DiBattista and freshman attack Jett Klassen, Loyola Maryland graduate defender Joe Houlihan and senior goalkeeper Max Watkinson.

Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week

*Cook scored eight goals, including the Greyhounds’ final three, in a 13-11 win at Colgate on Saturday.
*The sophomore is the first Loyola Maryland player since 2019 to score eight or more goals in a game.
*The Towson, Md. Native added two ground balls and a caused turnover.

*The Lake Forest, Ill. native ranks third in the Patriot League in ground balls per game (6.00) and sixth in caused turnovers per game (1.80).

Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Faceoff Specialist of the Week
Colin McLoy, Bucknell, Jr., FO, Newburyport, Mass./Pingree School
*McLoy went 16-for-25 at the ‘X’ and collected six ground balls in Bucknell’s 12-11 win at Lehigh.
*The junior has a .608 (59-for-97) faceoff win percentage through five games, which ranks third in the Patriot League.

Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week
Sean Byrne, Army West Point, Sr., GK, Acworth, Ga./Allatoona
*Byrne totaled 25 saves and four ground balls, while allowing only eight goals across 99 minutes in the cage in Army West Point’s 2-0 week.
*The senior tallied 14 saves in a 16-7 win at Mercer on Monday and finished with 11 saves in a 13-5 victory over Holy Cross.
*The Acworth, Ga. native leads the Patriot League in goals-against average (7.55) and save percentage (.627).

Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

*Morgan collected his third Rookie of the Week honor after recording six points on four goals and two assists in Lehigh’s Patriot League opener against Bucknell.
*The first-year attack ranks third in the Patriot League in goals per game (3.40) and fifth in points per game (4.20).

*Phillips made a career-high 15 saves and totaled three ground balls in the Terriers' 15-10 win over Navy on Saturday.

*Berrigan recorded a career-high five points with two goals and three assists in Bucknell's 12-11 win at Lehigh.
*The junior was credited with the assist on Will Hopkins’ game-winning goal with 2:53 remaining.

*Pickering recorded five grounds and a caused turnover, while leading the Bucknell defense that allowed only two goals in the last 14 minutes in a 12-11 victory at Lehigh.

*McDonnell finished 13-for-16 (.813) at the ‘X’ and picked up a game-high four ground balls in Holy Cross’ loss to nationally-ranked Army West Point.

*DiBattista scored four goals in Lafayette’s 11-9 win over St. John’s on Saturday. The sophomore leads the Patriot League in goals (21) and ranks fourth in points (23).

*Klassen recorded four points on three goals and one assist in the Leopards 11-9 victory against St. John’s. The freshman recorded his second straight hat trick and ranks second on Lafayette in points (14).
