BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bucknell freshmen Charlie Barrickman and Mattea Issa earned Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Golfers of the Week, respectively, when the League office announced the first set of honors for the 2026-27 season on Thursday.
Patriot League Men’s Golfer of the Week
Charlie Barrickman, Bucknell, Fr., West Chester, Pa./Unionville
*Barrickman won the individual title at Colgate’s Alex Lagowitz Memorial by shooting a 7-under par 209 (69-71-69), two strokes ahead of the second-place finisher, at the par-72 Seven Oaks Golf Club.
*Holding a one-stroke lead, Barrickman birdied his final hole to become the second Bison freshman to win a tournament and the first to accomplish the feat in his collegiate debut.
*He shot under par in each round, with his 3-under par 69 in the first and third rounds marking the lowest scores in relation to par by a Bucknell freshman in his collegiate debut.
Patriot League Women’s Golfer of the Week
Mattea Issa, Bucknell, Fr., Kingston, Jamaica/IMG Academy
*Issa shot a 4-under par 212 (74-71-67) to finish ninth among 90 golfers in the Nittany Lion Invitational field at the par-72 Penn State Blue Course.
*Her third-round score of 5-under par 67 is the lowest round in Bucknell program history.
*She helped the Bison break the program’s 18-, 36- and 54-hole scoring records to finish eighth out of 18 teams (+9, 873).
Honorable Mentions
Ronav Benak, Colgate, So., Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Prep
*Benak tied for fifth place out of 84 competitors at Colgate’s Alex Lagowitz Memorial by shooting a 3-under par 213 (69-69-75). He helped the Raiders tie for third place out of 14 teams with a team score of 2-over par 866.
Alex Elia, Holy Cross, Sr., Wilton, Conn./Wilton
*Elia shot a 1-under par 215 (73-71-71) to finish tied for 14th place out of 84 golfers at Colgate’s Alex Lagowitz Memorial. He helped the Crusaders tie for third place out of 14 teams with a team score of 2-over par 866.
Lilly Riegger, Lehigh, Fy., Fort Lauderdale, Fla./American Heritage
*Riegger tied for 27th place at the Nittany Lion Invitational by carding a 1-over par 217 (73-72-72). The first-year made eight birdies and parred 37 holes over three rounds in her collegiate debut.
Emma Tang, Navy, Sr., Chino Hills, Calif./Chino Hills
*Tang shot a 3-over par 219 (71-71-77) to finish tied for 20th in a talented field at the Folds of Honor Collegiate at the par-72 American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Mich.
