Five Questions Archive

Each Friday during the Patriot League women's basketball season, www.patriotleague.com will provide a brief question-and-answer session with each head coach, which were completed prior to the start of the League schedule in the beginning of January. This week, the interview is with Colgate University's Kristin Hughes.

Q1 - What are your thoughts on your season thus far (prior to League play)?

A1 - We are obviously disappointed with our current record. But we are not letting our numbers define us. I think our best basketball is ahead of us and feel like we are improving with each game. We've played some very tough non-conference opponents that hopefully will prepare us for League play.

Q2 - What are your expectations of the upcoming League schedule?

A2 - The Patriot League always seems to be very competitive and you have to be ready to play every night. It's anyone's championship to win.

Q3 - Who will be your toughest competitors once League play beings?

A3 - All the teams in the league will be tough to compete against.

Q4 - How much pride do you take in the Patriot League scholar-athlete model?

A4 - This model makes a place like Colgate a very easy sell to a recruit. There are not many leagues that can offer the kind of athletic and academic experience the Patriot League is able to provide. These players represent the epitome of the true student-athlete.

Q5 - What has been your coaching approach towards a group of players that as a whole have not logged a lot of time on the court?

A5 - Our approach is always the same...get better and keep improving everyday.
