Aug. 28, 2006

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell women's soccer sophomore Jennifer Dervarics (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) was named the Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week and to the Patriot League's weekly honorable mention list on Monday after totaling a career-high five points in the Orange and Blue's 7-0 victory over Central Arkansas at the Owl Eyes Classic on Sunday.

Dervarics led all scorers in the match against the Bears with two goals and an assist. Her first point of the contest came on what would be the game winning goal, scored by sophomore Kelly Boswell (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) in the 36th minute to put the Bison in front, 1-0 at halftime.

Dervarics then notched a tally at 49:33 to bring the score to 2-0, with assists going to junior Kimberly Cannon (Matawan, N.J./Old Bridge) and Nicole Marotta (Bridgewater, N.J./Mount St. Mary Academy). She went on to score again in the 58th minute, collecting the ball from a rebound off the post and firing it home.

Marotta, who joined Dervarics and Boswell as Bucknell's representatives on the all-tournament team at the Owl Eyes Classic, also received a Patriot League honorable mention this week after helping the Bison defense shut out Central Arkansas and hold opponents to 19 shots, 11 on goal, over two games.

The Bison next travel to Colorado, Sept. 1-3, where the squad will take on Air Force Friday evening at 9 p.m. and Colorado College on Sunday at 3 p.m., Eastern.
