Eleven Patriot League Lacrosse Student-Athletes Named to 2021 Tewaaraton Award Watch List

Seven men’s lacrosse student-athletes and four women’s lacrosse student-athletes make the list

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Eleven Patriot League men’s and women’s lacrosse student-athletes were selected among the 112 members of the 2021 Tewaaraton Award Watch List when it was announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
 
Seven Patriot League men’s lacrosse student-athletes were named to the Watch List, including Army West Point junior defender Marcus Hudgins, junior goalie Wyatt Schupler and junior attack Brendan Nichtern, Lehigh junior attack Tommy Schelling and junior faceoff specialist Mike Sisselberger, Loyola Maryland senior attack Kevin Lindley and graduate student long stick midfielder Ryan McNulty. The League had four representatives on the women’s watch list, including Lehigh graduate student midfielder Sondra Dickey, Loyola Maryland senior midfielder Sam Fiedler and senior attacker Livy Rosenzweig and Navy senior attacker Nicole Victory.
 
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse players in the United States. A pair of Patriot League student-athletes – Colgate’s Peter Baum (2012) and Pat Spencer (2019) of Loyola Maryland – are past Tewaaraton Award winners. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation. Watch List additions will be announced on April 2, before the field is narrowed to 25 men’s and 25 women’s nominees on April 23.
 
Five men’s and five women’s finalists will be announced in early May. The Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chose after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season. For more information on the Tewaaraton Foundation, visit www.tewaaraton.com.
 
Nictern, Hudgins and Schupler Named to Tewaaraton Watch List
The Army West Point men's lacrosse team had three athletes named to the 2021 Tewaaraton Award Watch List including Brendan NichternMarcus Hudgins and Wyatt Schupler. All three athletes have been essential in leading the Black Knights to a 3-1 record and a No. 6 national rank heading into week 5. “All three have distinguished themselves and are amongst the nation's elite at their respective positions. They have been instrumental in our early season success and I know that they will continue to work to improve individually in order to make us all better,” said head coach Joe Alberici.

Schelling and Sisselberger Named to Tewaaraton Award Watch List
Junior Tommy Schelling was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch list for a second straight season – just the fourth player in program history to be named to the Watch List multiple times – while classmate Mike Sisselberger earned the honor for the first time. This marks just the sixth time in program history the Mountain Hawks have featured multiple student-athletes named to the Watch List in a given season.

Dickey Named to Tewaaraton Award Watch List for Second Straight Season
For the second straight season, Lehigh women's lacrosse standout Sondra Dickey has been named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. She’s among the Mountain Hawks’ leaders with 12 points and 11 goals in four games this season. Dickey has also compiled 12 ground balls, 12 draw controls and eight caused turnovers to help Lehigh to a 2-2 start, and 1-0 in League play.

Lindley, McNulty Named to Tewaaraton Watch List
Loyola University Maryland men's lacrosse players Kevin Lindley and Ryan McNulty were named to the 2021 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, a group which includes the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the honor that was most recently won by Loyola's Pat Spencer in 2019.

Fielder, Rosenzweig Named to 2021 Tewaaraton Award Watch List
Both Fiedler and Rosenzweig are included on the initial watch list for a second-consecutive season, while Rosenzweig was also a Top-25 Semifinalist for the award back in 2019. The duo lead the Greyhounds in points, with Fiedler totaling 21 goals and eight assists through the season's first six games, while Rosenzweig has supplied 17 goals and 14 assists on the year.

Victory Named to Initial Tewaaraton Award Watch List
This is the first season that Victory has been named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List and the fourth consecutive year for Navy with at least one student-athlete on the watch list (Jenna Collins – 2018; Kelly Larkin – 2018, '19, '20). Victory is the fifth Midshipmen to be selected to the Tewaaraton Watch List, joining Erin Rawlick (2010), Jasmine DePompeo (2012, '13), Collins (2018), and Larkin (2018, '19, '20). Victory leads the Navy women's lacrosse team in points, goals scored, and assists this season. In three games in 2021, she has 10 goals, including a game-winning goal, and three assists for 13 total points with a pair of hat tricks to her credit.
