NCAA DI MEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS
BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland's golf team gathered in Reitz Arena on Wednesday afternoon to learn they will head to The Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs, Tennessee for the NCAA Regional later this month.
The Greyhounds, who will be the No. 11 seed in Kingston Springs, were joined by Loyola staff and administrators to watch The Golf Channel's NCAA Selection Show on Reitz Arena's video boards.
On Sunday, led by
Brandon Berry's medalist finish, the Greyhounds won the 2021 Patriot League Championships by 18 strokes at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club. The win was Loyola's fourth Patriot League title since joining the conference in 2013-14 and its 21
st overall league title since 1990.
Loyola will make its 10
th all-time NCAA Regionals appearance and first since 2017; the No. 11 seed is the highest in school history. Play at the three-day, three-round regional will commence on Monday, May 17.
Berry won his first collegiate title at the Patriot League Championships, shooting 69-70-72 for 1-over par 211 and a three-shot victory over teammate
Evan Brown (71-72-71, 214, +3).
Brown, who won Penn State University's Rutherford Intercollegiate last month, enters the NCAA Championships ranked No. 77 in NCAA Division I by GolfStat. Berry is 152
nd in the same rankings.
Loyola's duo has been outstanding this season as they have strung together consistent high finishes. Brown's second-place finish at the Patriot League Championships was his fifth top-5 finish of the year and third in a row, and Berry now has top-15 finishes in all six tournaments, top-10s in five and top-5s in four.
The Golf Club of Tennessee opened in 1991 and is a 7,184-yard, par-71 Tom Fazio design.
