BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Navy Midshipmen swept the 2023 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships, claiming the men’s and women’s titles after the two-day meet at Goodman Track and Field Complex at Lehigh University.
The Midshipmen men won their ninth straight Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field title, making it 10 in the program’s history, finishing with 323.2 points. Army West Point placed second with 169.2, while Boston University finished third with 109 points. Lehigh (93.4) and Bucknell (67.2) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while Colgate (30), Holy Cross (23), Lafayette (21), and American (20) completed the men’s standings.
Navy’s women earned their fifth-straight team title and the seventh in program history with 241.5 points. Boston University (150) and Army West Point (143) finished second and third, respectively. Bucknell placed fourth with 119.5 points. Lehigh (103.5), Holy Cross (50), Colgate (18), Lafayette (16.5), Loyola Maryland (14), and American (2) rounded out the women’s final standings.
Mids’ Head Coach Jamie Cook collected the Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year for the fifth-consecutive League outdoor championship.
Navy junior Joshua Boamah won the Men’s Highest Point-Scorer of the Meet with gold medals in the shot put and discus, along with his second-place finish in the hammer throw. Boamah was also named the men’s field athlete of the meet. Mids’ senior Molly Chapman collected Patriot League Women’s Field Athlete of the Meet after winning the long jump, finishing third in the triple jump and fourth in the high jump.
Boston University freshman Vera Sjöberg won the 1,500 meters and finished second in the 10,000 meters by just one hundredth of a second to claim Patriot League Rookie of the Meet honors. Navy freshman Nathan Kent was named Patriot League Rookie of the Meet after winning the 200 meters, placing second in the 400 meters and part of the Mids’ gold-medal winning 4x400 meter relay and second-place 4x100 meter relay squads.
Bucknell junior Meghan Quinn earned the Women’s Highest Point Scorer of the Meet after she earned gold medals in the 100 meters and 4x100 meter relay along with silver medals in the 200 meters and 4x400 meter relay.
