Patriot League Announces 2026 Indoor Track and Field Scholar-Athletes and Academic All-League Teams (3.4.26)

BETHLEHEM – The Boston University Terriers men’s and women’s programs received both Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards in Indoor Track and Field, when the League office announced the honors on Wednesday. Senior Peace Omonzane earned the women’s award, while junior Karsen Vesty earned the honor on the men’s side. Additionally, 37 student-athletes were awarded Academic All-Patriot League honors, with 18 honorees for the women’s team and 19 for the men’s team due to ties in the voting.

Omonzane was selected as the Field Athlete of the Meet for the third straight year after sweeping the long jump and triple jump at the 2026 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship. The senior captured her third consecutive title in both events, setting a meet and school record in the long jump (6.22m) as well as a championship record in the triple jump (13.21m). The psychology major carries a 3.94 cumulative GPA and is the third straight Terrier to be named Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Vesty, a First Team All-Patriot League runner, captured a gold medal in the mile as well as silver medals in the 4x800m and distance medley relay. The junior scored 14 points for Boston University, leading the Terriers to a third-place finish in the team standings. The Havelock North, New Zealand native carries a 3.92 cumulative GPA as a mechanical engineering major and is the fourth consecutive Terrier to earn Men’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Omonzane and Vesty were also selected for their respective Academic All-Patriot League teams.

Women’s Academic All-League Breakdown
Boston University’s Omonzane was joined by teammates junior Adrienne Buettner-Cable as well as seniors Ijeoma Ezechukwu, Ellie Roan and Jada Smith on the women’s Academic All-Patriot League squad. American sophomores Kara Langbaum and Zoe Rector; Army West Point sophomore Faith Kibble; juniors Mikayla Cheney and Jordan Hecht; and seniors Claire Lewis and Charlotte Richman; Bucknell sophomores Madison Fowler and Alexandra Lea; Colgate junior Melinda Haagensen; Holy Cross senior Celia Kulis; and Lehigh seniors Corinn Brewer and Laura Reigle rounded out the women’s all-academic team selections.

Men’s Academic All-League Breakdown
On the men’s side, the Terriers’ Vesty was accompanied by junior teammate Micah Perry and sophomore Luke Riordan. Army West Point juniors Jaxon Hammond and Maximus Haynia and sophomores Owen Lang and Matthew Palchak; Bucknell senior Wade Shomper; Holy Cross senior Liam Lyons and junior Joseph Mahon; Lafayette junior Ivan Tejada; Lehigh junior Andrew Clark and seniors Dan Malatesta and Joe Nowakowski; and Navy junior Logan Flament, senior Justin Mumford and sophomores Brian Schloeder, Jamison Scott and Cooper Wakley completed the Men’s Academic All-Patriot League team.

2026 Patriot League Women’s Indoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year

*Omonzane collected BU’s third straight Women’s Indoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor after holding a 3.84 cumulative GPA as a psychology major.
*The Brampton, Ontario native established Patriot League indoor records in the long jump (6.22m) and triple jump (13.21m) after capturing gold medals in both events for the third consecutive championship.
*The senior was selected as the 2026 Patriot League Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Meet for the third straight indoor season. It marks the first time a student-athlete has accomplished this feat in League history.
*Omonzane, a three-time Academic All-Patriot League selection, ranks 21st nationally in the triple jump.

2026 Patriot League Men’s Indoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year

*Vesty, the 2025 Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year, carries a 3.92 cumulative GPA as a mechanical engineering major.
*The junior captured Boston University’s third straight mile title and helped the Terriers secure runner-up finishes in the 4x800m and distance medley relay.
*Vesty is a three-time Academic All-Patriot League selection and has made the Dean’s List every semester at Boston University.

Voting for the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Men’s and Women’s Scholar-Athletes of the Year and Academic All-Patriot League Teams is conducted by the League men’s and women’s indoor track and field sports information directors.

To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in their sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
