Boston University Women & Navy Men Capture 2026 Patriot League Indoor Track & Field Titles (3.1.26)

BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston University women and Navy men captured the 2026 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship titles after the two-day meet at the BU Track and Tennis Center. The final day saw nine Patriot League Indoor Track and Field records established.

The Midshipmen won their sixth-straight team title and their 11th Indoor Track and Field title in the last 12 seasons, finishing with 218 points. It marks the 16th title overall for Navy, the most in Patriot League history. Army West Point finished as the runner-up with 182.5 points, while Boston University took third with 110 points. Bucknell (61.5) and Holy Cross (49) rounded out the top five. American (32), Lehigh (28), Lafayette (13) and Colgate (8) completed the men’s field.

On the women’s side, Boston University won back-to-back Patriot League Indoor Track and Field championships for the first time and its fourth title overall with 188 points. Army West Point (155) and Navy (150) finished second and third, respectively, while Lehigh (74) and Bucknell (66) rounded out the top five. Holy Cross (34), Colgate (22), Loyola Maryland (8), Lafayette (3) and American (1) finished out the women’s field.

Boston University senior Jada Smith was honored as both the Women’s Track Athlete of the Meet and the Women’s Highest Point Scorer after winning the 60m and 200m and placing second in the long jump to accumulate 30 points.

American senior Carver Morgan was selected as the Men’s Track Athlete of the Meet after winning his second straight 800m title and leading the Eagles to a gold medal in the distance medley relay. Morgan became just the second American student-athlete in program history to earn the award, joining Matt Seymour (2004).

Boston University senior Peace Omonzane earned her third consecutive Patriot League Women’s Field Athlete of the Meet award after winning the long jump and triple jump. Omonzane became the first student-athlete in Patriot League history to win the honor three times.

Army West Point senior Robby Manse was named the Patriot League Men’s Field Athlete of the Meet for the second straight year following a gold medal in the weight throw and a fourth-place finish in the shot put. Manse becomes the first student-athlete to win the award in consecutive years since Boston University’s David Oluwadara in 2015-16.

A pair of Terriers took home Rookie of the Meet honors as freshman Kirsten Barnhart was honored on the women’s side, while freshman Zachary Cox earned the men’s award. Barnhart took fourth in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump, while Cox won the 200m, finished sixth in the 400m and helped Boston University to a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay.

Holy Cross junior Joseph Mahon earned the Men’s Highest Point Scorer of the Meet award after totaling 18 points following a first-place finish in the 3,000m and a silver medal in the 5,000m.

Navy Head Coach Jamie Cook collected Patriot League Men’s Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the sixth-straight League indoor championship. Boston University’s Grant Cartwright earned back-to-back Women’s Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

DAY TWO EVENT CAPSULES
MILE RUN
Boston University’s Karsen Vesty became the third straight Terrier to capture the men’s mile title as the junior clocked a winning time of 4:05.25. Holy Cross senior Liam Lyons claimed the silver medal in 4:05.96 and American senior Kaden Kluth finished third in 4:06.02.
Army West Point claimed the top two spots in the women’s mile as junior Mikayla Cheney won the gold medal with a season-best time of 4:42.57. Teammate and senior Charlotte Richman logged a second-place finish in 4:43.90 and Boston University senior Sammy Seabury rounded out the podium in third at 4:44.69.
 
60-METER HURDLES
Boston University junior Micah Perry earned the men’s 60m hurdles gold medal as he ran a personal-best time of 7.98, becoming the first Terrier to win the event since 2016. Army West Point senior Austin Hernandez earned silver in 8.05, while Navy freshman Michael Wilkerson logged a bronze-medal finish in 8.07.

The Terriers completed the sweep in the 60m hurdles as sophomore Iman Roka captured first-place in the women’s race with a Patriot League Indoor Championship record time of 8.32. Navy’s Jia Anderson, the three-time defending champion, took silver with a time of 8.44 and Holy Cross senior Celia Kulis earned bronze at 8.52.
 
400 METERS
Navy’s Nathan Kent won gold for the third straight season in the men’s 400m with a time of 47.27. The senior became just the second Patriot League student-athlete to win the event in three consecutive years, joining Bucknell’s Rob Arent (2010-12). Army West Point sophomore Owen Lang finished as the runner-up at 4743 and Boston University freshman Samuel Anderson earned the bronze with a time of 47.62.
 
For the second time in her career, Navy junior Sophia Richter captured the title in the women’s 400m, crossing the line in 54.27. Bucknell sophomore Alex Lea finished second in 54.35 and Lehigh senior Grace Kennedy rounded out the podium in 54.66.
 
60-METER DASH
Army West Point junior Jaxon Hammond earned gold in the men’s 60m, finishing in 6.77 seconds after a third-place finish last season. Navy’s Jonah Johnson (6.86) and Marcel Jackson (6.87) received silver and bronze medals, respectively.
 
Boston University senior Jada Smith won gold in the women’s 60m, finishing in a time of 7.51 seconds. Bucknell freshman Grace Camerlingo claimed silver in a time of 7.58, while Navy senior Caroline Rey recorded a time of 7.62 to finish third.
 
800 METERS
American senior Carver Morgan stood atop the podium with a gold medal in the men’s 800 meters for the second straight season, breaking a Patriot League Championship meet record with a time of 1:46.97. Army West Point senior Kasen Jeitz earned silver with a time of 1:48.01, while Lehigh senior Alex Heidemann finished close behind with a time of 1:48.28 for third place.
 
Lehigh senior Abby Klebe earned gold for the second consecutive season, setting a Patriot League Championship meet record in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:04.947, one-thousandth of a second in front of Army West Point junior Cherokee Chambers, who earned silver in 2:04.948. Boston University senior Olivia Dodds finished third in 2:05.15.
 
200 METERS
Boston University freshman Zachary Cox crossed the finish line first, recording a time of 21.05. Army West Point teammates Joshua Duncan (21.15) and Jaxon Hammond (21.30) earned spots on the podium, placing second and third, respectively.
 
Boston University senior Jada Smith won gold, setting a Patriot League Championship meet record with a time of 23.73, besting the previous mark of 23.73, set by Bucknell’s Meghan Quinn in 2024. Terriers’ senior Ijeoma Ezechukwu earned silver with a time of 23.93, while Navy junior Sophia Richter posted a time of 24.18 to claim bronze.

3,000 METERS
Holy Cross junior Joseph Mahon finished atop the podium, crossing the finish line in 8:06.74. Navy sophomore Dane Eike (8:07.53) finished less than a second behind to earn silver, while Army West Point sophomore Maximus Haynia (8:08.43) took home bronze.
 
Army West Point senior Charlotte Richmond broke a Patriot League Championship meet record, earning gold in a time of 9:20.42, after claiming silver in 2025. Junior teammate Mikayla Cheney earned silver with a time of 9:28.96, while Boston University junior Adrienne Buettner-Cable claimed bronze, finishing in 9:28.98.
 
DISTANCE MEDLEY RELAY (DMR)
American’s men’s DMR team of Emmett Engelhardt, Gregory Celariste, Carver Morgan and Kaden Kluth won gold in a Patriot League Championship meet record time of 9:49.59, marking the Eagles’ first first-place finish in the DMR since 2008. Boston University’s team of Moritz Ebbeskotte, Thomas Cowan, Daniel Demonte and Kasen Vesty finished second in 9:49.82, while Holy Cross’ Thomas Speltz, Willem Martino, Jack Noble and Liam Lyons earned bronze in 9:51.12.
 
Boston University’s DMR team of Caroline Collins, Olivia Dodds, Lily Borin and Sammy Seabury broke a Patriot League Championship meet record, finishing in 11:31.40 to claim gold. Navy’s Reilly Nussbaum, Julia Blake, Lexi Ensor and Katherine Leddy claimed silver in 11:34.23, while Army West Point’s Alma Lazo Cazares, Chadon Foreman, Grace Coppel and Chloe Esponda earned the final spot on the medal stand in 11:35.05.
  
4X400-METER RELAY
A Navy men’s 4x400-meter relay team stood atop the podium for the seventh straight season, as Ayden Henley, David Walker, Jason Keiser and Nathan Kent posted a gold-medal winning time of 3:11.47. Army West Point’s Lex Ferrell, Trey McGinnis, Owen Hoag and Kasen Jeitz placed second in 3:12.75, while Boston University’s team of Thaden Leomensah, Samuel Anderson, Zachary Cox and Nicholas Cappuccio posted a time of 3:13.57 for third place.
 
Army West Point’s women’s 4x400-meter relay team of Sabrina Sardar, Chadon Foreman, Cherokee Chambers and Grace Coppel edged Boston University to earn gold, finishing in 3:41.15. The Terriers’ quartet of Nia McCurdy, Ijeoma Ezechukwu, Jada Smith and Kendall Barnhart (3:41.24) claimed silver and Lehigh’s Grace Kennedy, Jade Sanders, Kayleigh Jamieson and Kasey White (3:43.18) received bronze.
 
HIGH JUMP
Navy’s Sheldon Ulmer earned First-Team All-Patriot League honors with a first-place jump of 2.07 meters. Bucknell’s Jeffrey Cianfrocca (2.07m) and Army West Point’s Carlos Posey (2.07m) earned silver and bronze, respectively.

Navy sophomore Zoie Tesi won the women’s high jump, clearing 1.75 meters to capture gold. Colgate junior Kiran George cleared 1.72 meters to earn silver, while Army West Point senior Zoe Whaley cleared 1.69 meters to grab the final spot on the podium.
 
TRIPLE JUMP
Army West Point senior Bret Wingard won gold, measuring a leap of 15.25 meters. Bucknell sophomore Caleb Simbiri placed second, posting a distance of 14.92m, while Boston University sophomore Brayden Irhuegbae received bronze for his jump of 14.67m.
 
Boston University’s Peace Omonzane captured gold for the third straight season, setting a Patriot League Indoor Championship meet record with a leap of 13.21 meters. She broke her previous record of 12.79m from the 2024 indoor championship to join Bucknell’s Ann Doty as the only three-time League triple jump gold medalists. Navy’s Zoie Tesi earned silver with a jump of 12.42m, and Army West Point’s Erin Allert placed third, with a jump of 12.31m.
 
SHOT PUT
Bucknell senior Wade Shomper won gold with a heave of 18.22 meters, recording the distance on his fifth throw. Army West Point sophomore Matthew Palchak (18.18m) and Boston University senior Gabe Hickman (17.52m) earned spots on the podium, claiming silver and bronze, respectively.
 
Army West Point’s Jordan Hecht broke a Patriot League Championship Meet record to capture gold in the shot put with a heave of 16.65 meters. Boston University’s Ellie Roan finished second with a distance of 15.70m, while the Terriers’ Madison Sorrell claimed bronze with a throw of 14.32m.
 
HEPTATHLON
Navy captured the top two spots on the podium, as junior Nicholas Simmons (5,144 points) earned gold after a third-place finish in 2025. Simmons won the long jump and finished second in the 1,000m. Mids’ freshman Jordan Wolverton (5,068) captured silver, while Army West Point senior Canyon Hall (5,065) earned bronze. Wolverton won the high jump, while Hall won the shot put.
