BOSTON, Mass. – The Navy men and Boston University women stand atop their respective leaderboards after the first day of the 2026 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships at the BU Track and Tennis Center on the campus of Boston University. Five of the 18 events have been completed on the men’s side, while six of the 18 events have concluded for the women.
The Navy men’s team totaled 74 points through the first day of the championship, while Army West Point sits in second with 47.5 points. Boston University (29), Bucknell (12.5) and Holy Cross (9) rounded out the top five. Lehigh (7), American (6), Colgate (5) and Lafayette (5) completed the men’s standings.
Boston University’s women’s team registered 59 points after day one, with Navy in second and Army West Point in third with 53 and 42 points, respectively. Lehigh (29) and Bucknell (20) round out the top five, while Holy Cross (18), Colgate (8), Loyola Maryland (4), Lafayette (1) and American (0) complete the women’s scoring after the first day of events.
Patriot League Records
For the second straight year, Boston University’s Peace Omonzane established a new Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship record in the women’s long jump with a 6.22m mark. Omonzane recorded the leap on her final attempt to secure her third-straight title in the event.
Lehigh senior Laura Reigle matched the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship record in the women’s pole vault, clearing 4.10m on her way to her second career title in the event.
In the semifinals of the women’s 60m hurdles, Boston University sophomore Iman Roka clocked the fastest time at 8.43, which is a Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship record for the event.
The Terriers continued to shatter Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship marks as senior Jada Smith turned in a record-breaking time of 7.42 in the semifinals of the 60m.
The Black Knights concluded day one in impressive fashion as the quartet of Sabrina Sardar, Alma Lazo Cazares, Mikayla Cheney and Cherokee Chambers broke a Patriot League Indoor Championship record in the women’s 4x800m relay, capturing gold in a time of 8:38.57.

DAY ONE EVENT CAPSULES
POLE VAULT
Navy claimed the top-three spots in the men’s pole vault as sophomore Brian Schloeder led the way in first place after clearing a personal-best height of 5.25m on his second attempt. Midshipmen teammates junior Gunnar Kimball (5.05m) and sophomore Cooper Wakley (4.95m) earned silver and bronze medals, respectively. Schloeder is the fourth Navy student-athlete in the last five years to win the event, joining Walker Rudisaile (2022, 2024) and Jack Haller (2023).
On the women’s side, Lehigh’s Laura Reigle captured the pole vault title for the second time in her career as she cleared a personal-best 4.10m on her first attempt to tie the Patriot League Championship record. Colgate junior Melinda Haagensen finished as the runner-up with a height of 4.00m and Holy Cross junior Bridget Sachs rounded out the podium in third, clearing 3.80m on her first attempt.
5,000 METERS
Justin Mumford secured Navy’s fourth straight gold medal in the men’s 5,000m as the senior clocked a winning time of 14:02.62. Holy Cross junior Joseph Mahon finished second in 14:05.24, while Navy junior Logan Flament completed the podium with a third-place and personal-best time of 14:05.73.
In the women’s race, Army West Point’s Charlotte Richman secured the Black Knights’ first title in the event since 2023 as the senior clocked a winning time of 16:29.88. Navy senior Sophie Compton earned the silver medal with a time of 16:46.28, while Army West Point senior Claire Lewis took third place at 16:46.61.
WEIGHT THROW
For the third straight year, Boston University’s Ellie Roan captured the title in the weight throw with a mark of 21.14m on her first attempt. The senior became the Patriot League’s third three-time winner in the event, joining Army West Point’s Heather Lawson (1997-99) and Bucknell’s Marjorie Grap (2005-07). Teammate and senior Uchenna Uba finished as the runner-up with a throw of 19.68m, while Bucknell sophomore Madison Fowler rounded out the podium with an 18.80m mark.
Army West Point senior Robby Manse won the gold medal in the men’s competition for the second straight year with a personal-best mark of 20.61m on his second attempt. Manse became the first Patriot League student-athlete since the Black Knights’ Kenneth Brinson (2017-18) to win the event in consecutive years. Boston University sophomore Luke Riordan finished as the silver medalist with a throw of 19.70m, while Bucknell senior Aiden Tacker rounded out the podium with a 19.56m mark.
LONG JUMP
Boston University’s Peace Omonzane claimed her third consecutive gold medal in the women’s long jump, recording a Patriot League-record leap of 6.22m on her final attempt. The senior became the first Patriot League student-athlete to win the event three straight times and third overall to capture three titles, joining Army West Point’s Tiffany Martin (2002-03, 2005) and Boston University’s Lovie Burleson (2016-17, 2019). Teammate and senior Jada Smith secured a runner-up finish at a personal-best 6.17m and Army West Point junior Olivia Reed secured the bronze with a personal-best jump of 5.92m.
On the men’s side, Navy recorded the top-two finishers, led by sophomore Wyatt Shaw, who posted a leap of 7.35m on his third attempt to win the event. Teammate and junior William Pierce secured the silver medal with a mark of 7.20m and Army West Point senior Carlos Posey completed the podium at 7.17m. Shaw became the first Midshipman to secure a gold medal in the long jump since Aidan Featherby in 2022.
4X800-METER RELAY
The Black Knights’ team of Parker Harris, Todd Worth, Ammon Smith and Kasen Jeitz captured gold for the third time in four years, finishing in 7:28.39, three-hundredths of a second behind the Patriot League Indoor Championship record. Boston University’s quartet of Daniel Demonte, Kasen Vesty, Ryan Boldi and Thomas Cowan (7:29.17) finished less than one second behind to earn silver, while Navy’s team of Matthew Quispe, James Partlow, Patrick Gandini and Aidan Eberhardt posted a time of 7:33.19 to claim bronze.
Army West Point’s team of Sabrina Sardar, Alma Lazo Cazares, Mikayla Cheney and Cherokee Chambers broke a Patriot League Indoor Championship record, capturing gold in a time of 8:38.57. The Terriers’ team of Caroline Collins, Samantha Lascelles, Leonni Griffin and Olivia Dodds posted a time of 8:43.59 to finish second, while Navy’s Lexi Ensor, Julia Blake, Reilly Nussbaum and Mia-Claire Kezal finished in 8:48.30 to claim bronze.
WOMEN’S PENTATHLON
Lehigh senior Corinn Brewer took home the pentathlon gold medal in her final Patriot League Indoor Championship with a personal-best 3,543 points. Brewer finished first in the 800m with a time of 2:15.40 to ultimately win the event, marking the Mountain Hawks’ first victory since 2017 (Sarah Cassidy). Navy sophomore Sara McConnell secured a second-place finish with a victory in the high jump (1.66m) to finish with 3,527 points. Holy Cross senior Celia Kulis captured her second straight bronze medal with 3,526 points, following victories in the 60m hurdles (8.62) and shot put (11.07m).
