BETHLEHEM – Boston University and the United States Naval Academy collected Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards for Outdoor Track and Field, when the League office announced the honors on Wednesday. BU senior Peace Omonzane earned the women’s award, while Navy senior Justin Mumford garnered the honor on the men’s side.
Additionally, Omonzane and Mumford were among the 42 student-athletes honored on the Academic All-Patriot League Teams, with 21 members on both the men’s and women’s squads.
Omonzane collected First Team All-Patriot League honors after sweeping the long jump and triple jump at the 2026 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The senior won her second straight title in the long jump and set a facility record at 6.32m before capturing her third consecutive crown in the triple jump. The psychology major owns a 3.87 cumulative GPA and is the second straight Terrier to be named the Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season.
Mumford, a First Team All-Patriot League runner, captured the title in the 10,000m with a Patriot League Outdoor Championship and Ingram Field record time of 29:26.91, as well as the gold medal in the 5,000m. The senior scored 20 points for Navy, leading the Midshipmen to their 12th straight crown and 13th in program history. The New Baden, Ill. native carries a 3.95 cumulative GPA as an aerospace engineer major and is the first Midshipman to earn Men’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season since 2021.
Voting for the Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Men’s and Women’s Scholar-Athletes of the Year and Academic All-Patriot League Teams is conducted by the League men’s and women’s outdoor track and field sports information directors.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in their sport. Freshmen or students in their first year of academic study at their school are not eligible for the honor.
Women’s Academic All-League Breakdown
Boston University’s Omonzane was accompanied by teammates junior Adrienne Buettner-Cable, senior Ijeoma Ezechukwu, senior Ellie Roan and sophomore Iman Roka on the women’s Academic All-Patriot League Team. American sophomore Zoe Rector, seniors Kate Riley and Annie Ripol; Army West Point juniors Mikayla Cheney, Jordan Hecht and Claire Wimer, seniors Claire Lewis and Charlotte Richman; Bucknell junior Evelyn Bliss, sophomore Alexandra Lea and senior Brylee Tereska; Holy Cross senior Celia Kulis and junior Grace Ryan; Lehigh seniors Corinn Brewer and Laura Regila; and Navy junior Gracie Emerick rounded out the Women’s Academic All-League selections.
Men’s Academic All-League Breakdown
On the men’s side, Navy’s Mumford was joined by sophomores Brian Schloeder, Jamison Scott and Cooper Wakley as well as juniors Logan Flament, Robert Skaggs and Sheldon Ulmer. American sophomore Barak Goldstein; Army West Point senior Nathan Davis, juniors Jaxon Hammond and Maximus Haynia, sophomores Owen Lang and Matthew Palchak; Boston University junior Micah Perry and sophomore Luke Riordan; Bucknell seniors Keenan LaMontagne and Wade Shomper; Holy Cross senior Liam Lyons, Lafayette junior Niko Williams; Lehigh seniors Dan Malatesta and Joseph Nowakowski completed the Men’s Academic All-Patriot League Team.
2026 Patriot League Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Peace Omonzane, Boston University, Sr., Jumps, Brampton, Ontario/St. Edmund Campion
*Omonzane collected her second Scholar-Athlete of the Year award of the 2025-26 campaign, receiving both the Indoor and Outdoor honors, after holding a 3.87 cumulative GPA as a psychology major.
*The native of Canada won her second straight Patriot League title in the long jump and set a facility record at 6.32m.
*She became the only Patriot League athlete to win the triple jump in three consecutive years at the outdoor championship and is one of just two jumpers in League history to sweep the horizontal jumps in back-to-back years (Melba Goggins, Army West Point – 1993-94).
*Omonzane, a three-time Outdoor Track and Field Academic All-Patriot League selection, ranks 15th in the triple jump and 21st in the long jump in the NCAA Division I East Region.
*Additionally, the senior is a two-time CSC Academic All-District and two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic selection.
2026 Patriot League Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Justin Mumford, Navy, Sr., Distance, New Baden, Ill./Wesclin Senior
*Mumford, a First Team All-Patriot League runner, carries a 3.95 cumulative GPA as an aerospace engineering major and becomes the first Midshipmen since 2021 to be named Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

*He returned to capture the gold medal in the 5,000m to help Navy win its 12th consecutive Patriot League outdoor championship.
