WORCESTER, Mass. — Holy Cross Associate Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Kit Hughes has announced that
Brad Walulak has been appointed to the position of Director of Tennis.
Walulak will now take over leading the women's program and will continue guiding the men, who he has led for the past nine years. Walulak's elevation to full-time Director of Tennis is the first step in a restructuring of the men's and women's tennis programs that will also include the hiring of an assistant coach.
"I would like to thank Director of Athletics Kit Hughes, Assistant AD Aaron Dashiell and the rest of the administration for allowing me the opportunity to serve as the Director of Tennis," Walulak said. "It will be a great honor to continue to build on the culture we have created in the Holy Cross tennis program. I look forward to leading our efforts to provide our young women and men one of the best student-athlete experiences in the Northeast."
In the spring of 2022, Walulak led the Crusader men to a 4-0 victory over Lafayette in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament, good for their first conference tournament win since 1998. In addition, the Crusaders have placed 60 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in his first nine years leading the men's program.
"There has been tremendous support for Coach Walulak since this process began, and I was thrilled to see him earn this opportunity through a very competitive process," Hughes said. "Our student-athletes have benefitted from Coach Walulak's expertise and leadership over the last nine seasons, and I look forward to seeing the impact he can continue to make on our program."
Walulak came to Holy Cross after serving as the head varsity tennis coach at Wilbraham & Monson Academy for seven seasons. From 1999-2012, he was also a tennis teaching professional at various facilities in the northeast. In addition, Walulak was an ATP men's satellite tour player from 1996-2001 and was ranked in the top 40 as a junior player.
Walulak graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and biomechanics. He was a four-year member of the men's tennis team that was nationally ranked in the top 25 throughout his career.
Walulak resides in Chicopee, Mass., with his wife Heather and their sons (Greyson and Preston).
