BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Undefeated-Lafayette earned three of the five Patriot League Women's Soccer Weekly Awards when the League announced the winners on Monday. Bucknell and Loyola Maryland recorded one honor apiece.
Lafayette freshman midfielder Nadia Zaffanella was named the Patriot League Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week after scoring her first collegiate goal and assisting on another in the Leopards’ 2-1 win over St. Joes. Senior goalkeeper Lindsay Dewar earned the goalkeeper of the week by recording 11 saves and giving up just one goal in two games.
Loyola Maryland junior midfielder Olivia Quaranta earned midfielder of the week after scoring the first goal in both the Greyhounds’ wins last week.
Bucknell junior defender Katie Schiano collected defensive player of the week as part of a Bison defense that allowed two goals in two games.
Army West Point junior goalkeeper Sage Strohman, Bucknell senior goalkeeper Jenna Hall, Lehigh freshman forward Aminah Baruwa, Loyola junior Baylee DeSmit and Navy junior Alexa Riddle all earned honorable mentions.
The weekly awards were voted on by the women’s soccer head coaches from each institution, with restrictions on voting for their own student-athletes.

*The freshman started in Lafayette’s matches against St. Peter’s and St. Joseph’s.
* She scored her first collegiate along with an assist in Lafayette’s 2-1 win against St. Joes.
* Zaffanella also scored in the Leopard’s 4-0 win at St. Peter's.
Midfielder of the Week
Olivia Quaranta, Loyola Maryland, Jr., M, Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep
*Quaranta scored a team-leading two goals in wins against Manhattan (3-0) and Rice (2-0) last week.
*She scored at the 9:57 mark of the first half against Manhattan.
*The junior midfielder scored the first goal of the game at the 46:18 mark in a shutout win over Rice.
Defensive Player of the Week
Katie Schiano, Bucknell, Jr., D, New Albany, Ohio/Columbus Academy
*Schiano shined at right back as Bucknell played to a 1-1 draw with Villanova and a 3-1 win over La Salle.
*She was part of a defense that limited Villanova to just one goal. The Wildcats are 3-0-2 on the season with an 11-2 goal differential.
*In Sunday’s win over LaSalle, Schiano scored the game-winning goal with a running header on a corner kick.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Lindsay Dewar, Lafayette, Sr., GK, Readington, N.J./Hunterdon Central
*Dewar started and played the full 90 minutes in both Leopards wins last week.
*She tallied five saves in Lafayette's 2-1 win over Saint Joseph's.
*The senior recorded six saves and a shutout in Lafayette's 4-0 win at St. Peter's.
Honorable Mention
Sage Strohman, Army West Point, Jr., GK, La Mirada, Calif./La Mirada HS
*The junior made a season-high seven saves against UConn to secure a shutout on the road in a 0-0 tie.
Jenna Hall, Bucknell, Sr., GK, Huger, S.C./Miss Porter’s School
*Hall recorded eight saves in a 1-1 draw with Villanova on Thursday. The senior then stopped four shots in Sunday’s 3-1 win against LaSalle.
Aminah Baruwa, Lehigh, Fr., F, Easton, Pa.
*Baruwa scored the game-winner in Lehigh's 1-0 win over Penn on Sunday.
Baylee DeSmit, Loyola Maryland, Jr., M, Towson, Md./McDonogh School
* DeSmit tallied 3 assists in two wins for Loyola last week. Her first came against Manhattan, she then added two more against Rice.
Alexa Riddle, Navy, Jr., F, Tomball, Texas/Tomball Memorial
*Riddle scored in both the Mids wins last week including the game-winner on Thursday night versus Presbyterian. On Sunday at Wofford, the junior got the scoring going for Navy with the game's first goal in the 19th minute.
