BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bucknell earned two Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Weekly Awards when honors were announced on Tuesday. Army West Point, Boston University, Lehigh and Navy garnered one award apiece.
Army West Point’s Luke Griner earned Patriot League Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honors after winning the 800-meters with a season-best mark of 1:48.03. The mark leads the Patriot League and ranks 26th in NCAA Division I. Lehigh’s Ashley Struck won Patriot League Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week with a first-place victory in the 400-meters at the Bison Outdoor Classic on the campus of Bucknell University. Her time of 54.10 seconds leads the Patriot League and ranks 92nd in NCAA DI. The mark also set a new school record at Lehigh.
Boston University’s Stuart Bladon earned Patriot League Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week honors after earning a Patriot League season-high 6,873 points in the Decathlon. Bladon ranks 14th in the NCAA East Region and 43rd nationally. Navy’s Hannah Lowenstein recorded the second-best jump in program history with a mark of 1.76m (5’ 9.25”) in the high jump. Her mark places her second in the Patriot League and 43rd in NCAA DI.
Bucknell freshman Bernard Kemp garnered Patriot League Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Rookie of the Week honor after winning the long jump at the Bison Outdoor Classic with a mark of 7.35m (24’ 1.5”). The freshman currently leads the Patriot League. Fellow Bison Evelyn Bliss earned Patriot League Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Rookie of the Week honors after a 52.08m (170’ 1’) throw in the javelin. Her season-high marks lead the Patriot League and rank 16th in NCAA DI.
Army West Point’s Louisa Diamond, Boston University’s Foster Malleck and Vera Sjöberg, Bucknell’s Justley Sharp, Holy Cross’ Celia Kulis, and Navy’s Joshua Boamah, Annie Lemelin and Nathan Kent each earned honorable mention nods.
Patriot League Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Luke Griner, Army West Point, Sr., Mid-Distance, Syracuse, Ind./Wawasee
*Griner logged an 800m time of 1:48.03, winning the event at the Larry Ellis Invitational.
*The mark leads the Patriot League and places him 26th in NCAA DI.
*Griner also earned a sixth-place finish in the 400m with a 48.17-second time.
Patriot League Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Ashley Struck, Lehigh, Sr., Sprints, Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township
*Struck set a Mountain Hawk record with a 54.10-second time in the 400m.
*She won the event at the Bison Outdoor Classic and now leads the Patriot League in the event.

*Bladon logged 6,873 points in the decathlon, which is the best mark in the Patriot League this season.

*Kemp won the long jump with a mark of 7.35m (24’ 1.5’).

*Bliss won the javelin with a throw of 52.08m (170’ 1”), which set a new facility record. The mark leads the Patriot League.
*Her season-best javelin mark ranks 16th in NCAA DI.

* Sjöberg won the 1,500m with a time of 4:20.55 at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Her mark leads the Patriot League and ranks 88th in NCAA DI.

*Malleck logged a 3:41.86 mark in the 1,500m at the Bryan Clay Invitational. His time leads the Patriot League and ranks 51st in NCAA DI.
Justley Sharp, Bucknell, Fr., Throws, Homer City, Pa./Homer Center
*Sharp won the discus (47.62m / 156’ 3”) and shot put (14.87m / 48’ 9.5”) at the Bison Outdoor Classic.
Celia Kulis, Holy Cross, So., Multis, Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington
*Kulis broke the Holy Cross record in the 100-meter hurdles with a mark of 13.92 during the heptathlon events.
*She is ranked third in the League in the 100m-hurdles and second overall in the heptathlon with 4,485 points.
Joshua Boamah, Navy, Sr., Throws, San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch
*Boamah won the discus (52.64m / 172’ 8”) and the shot put (18.49m / 60’ 8”) at the Virginia Grand Prix.
Nathan Kent, Navy, So., Sprints, Rocklin, Calif./Rocklin
*Kent finished as the runner-up in the 200m at the Virigina Grand Prix with a time of 20.84 seconds.
*He now also ran legs of the Navy 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams.
*The Mids 4x400 group posted the third-best time in program history at 3:07.54.

PATRIOT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2024 Patriot League Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held at Bucknell University's Christy Mathewson - Memorial Stadium beginning Friday, May 3 and concluding on Saturday, May 4. All nine men's programs and each of the ten women's programs will compete in the events as the Navy Midshipmen look to defend their men’s and women’s titles.
