BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Twelve Patriot League student-athletes competed at the United States Olympic Swimming and Diving Trials at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., between June 15 and June 23.
Army West Point's Kohen Rankin competed on Saturday, June 15th, in the men's 100m breaststroke. He finished in 56th, with a time of 1:02.28.
Kalvin Hahn and Aurelie Migault represented the Black Knights in the men's 400m individual medley (IM) and women's 100 breaststroke, respectively. Hahn finished 76th with a time of 4:33.32, while Migault clocked a 1:11.78, good for 71st place.
Navy's Ben Irwin finished tied for 20th in the men's 100m backstroke with a time of 54.96. The Midshipmen were represented by three more swimmers in the 200m breaststroke, with Michael Phillips (61st, 2:16.48), Juan Mora (68th, 2:17.41) and Matt Murphy (75th, 2:19.98). In the same event, Army's Hahn finished 73rd with a time of 2:18.25.
Loyola Maryland's Joe Hayburn and Navy's Ben Irwin competed in the men's 200m backstroke at the Trials. Hayburn finished 29th, with a time of 2:00.23. Irwin posted a 1:58.96, earning him both 12th place and a qualifying bid in the semifinals. Swimming later the same day, Irwin finished in 13th, three spots out from a qualifying time, with a time of 1:59.89.
The Black Knights' final two swimmers competed on Thursday, June 20, as Owen Harlow swam in the 50m freestyle and Sam Wesley took on the men's 200m IM. Harlow finished tied for 63rd overall, with a time of 23 seconds. In the medley, Wesley finished with a time of 2:04.46, good for 75th overall.
The U.S. Olympic Team Trials concluded Friday, June 21 for League qualifiers, as Navy's Patrick Colwell and Jonah Harm competed in the men's 100m butterfly. Colwell (38th) and Harm (43rd) rounded out the competition, finishing with times of 53.45 and 53.61, respectively.
