No. 3 Army West Point and No. 5 Lafayette Advance to 2025 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Soccer Semifinals (11.2.25)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – No. 3 Army West Point and No. 5 Lafayette advanced through the first round of the 2025 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Soccer Championship on Sunday with wins over No. 6 Loyola Maryland and No. 4 Holy Cross, respectively.

Following a come-from-behind victory in penalty kicks over Holy Cross, Lafayette will play No. 1 Boston University at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6 at Nickerson Field in Boston, Mass.

Army West Point knocked off Loyola Maryland 3-1 and will travel to Hamilton, N.Y., to face No. 2 Colgate at 6 p.m. at Beyer-Small '76 Field. Both games will be available on ESPN+.

WEST POINT, N.Y. – No. 3 Army West Point used three different goal scorers to defeat No. 6 Loyola Maryland 3-1 in the first round of the 2025 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Soccer Championship on Sunday at Malek Stadium.
*Army West Point junior forward and All-Patriot League Third Team selection Sabrina Rogers opened the scoring with her sixth goal of the season in the 10th minute.
*The Black Knights stretched their lead to 2-0 less than three minutes into the second half when junior midfielder Maddi Woodward finished a pass from sophomore forward Bella Cooke.
*Senior forward and 2025 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year Brigid Duffy capped the scoring with her League-leading 14th goal of the season in the 57th minute.
*Loyola Maryland got on the board in the 63rd minute when freshman forward Savannah Manset scored her third goal of the season to make it 3-1.
*Army West Point sophomore goalkeeper Karalyn Dail finished with three saves.
*The Black Knights held the advantage in shots (19-7), shots on goals (9-4) and corner kicks (3-2).

WORCESTER, Mass. – The fifth-seeded Lafayette Leopards scored a pair of second-half goals and outlasted No. 5 Holy Cross in penalty kicks (4-2) to advance through the first round of the 2025 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Soccer Championship on Sunday at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.
*Trailing 2-0, the Leopards cut the deficit in half in the 63rd minute when junior midfielder and All-Patriot League First Team selection Nadia Zaffanella scored off a pass from junior defender Eva Acker.
*In the 80th minute, Zaffanella tied the game at 2-2 with her ninth goal of the season, with senior forward Katrina Santelli credited with the assist. It marked the first career brace for Zaffanella.
*With the game tied after the second overtime period, the Leopards converted penalty kicks from April McDonald, Zaffanella, Era Methoxha and Jessica Giordanella to advance.
*Holy Cross fifth-year midfielder Sam Halligan scored her fourth goal of the season in the 13th minute to give the Crusaders a first-half lead.
*The Crusaders extended the advantage to 2-0 at the 41:01 mark when junior defender and All-Patriot League Second Team selection Karenna Beckstein converted a penalty kick for her third goal of the year.  
*Holy Cross freshman and 2025 Patriot League Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Year Aubrey Haesche and Lafayette junior goalkeeper Catherine Apker each made nine saves.
*The Crusaders held the edge in shots (29-21), shots on goals (12-11) and corner kicks (7-2).
*Lafayette will face No. 1 Boston University on Thursday, Nov. 6, in the semifinal round at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
