Navy Women’s Golf Closes First Round of NCAA Gold Canyon Regional in Sixth Place

GOLD CANYON, Ariz. – The Navy women's golf team finished the first round of the 2025 NCAA Gold Canyon Regional in the top-half of the leaderboard, closing Monday in sixth place at the Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club.
 
Playing at the par-72, 6,544-yard Prospector Course, the Midshipmen wrapped up the first day of regional action with an 11-over par 299 score to stand sixth in the 12-team field. Sitting eight strokes behind the fifth-place team, No. 20-ranked Mississippi State, for the regional's final NCAA Championship berth, Navy itself holds a four-stroke edge over the seventh-place squad, 32nd-ranked California.
 
Regional host and eighth-ranked Arizona State leads the field at 2-under par 286, while No. 21-ranked Anna Davis of Auburn and CSU Fullerton's Davina Xanh share the top spot on the players' leaderboard at 3-under par 69.
 
Navy freshman Megan Kirkpatrick ended the opening round as the Mids' top golfer, sitting in a three-way tie for 18th place after a 1-over par 73 Monday.
 
Senior captain Bridget Hoang and sophomore Emma Tang also posted strong first days, with each shooting a 3-over par 75 to hold a share of 31st on the leaderboard.
 
Keira Howard finished the round right behind them in 38th, tallying a 4-over par 76 score, while junior Sue Lee closed in 59th place at 10-over par 82.
 
Navy continues play in the Gold Canyon Regional on Tuesday morning, with tee times starting at 8 a.m. MT/11 a.m. ET.
