Patriot League Announces Men’s and Women’s Tennis Players of the Week (2.24.26)

Lehigh’s Jaeger, Boston University’s Mikaul win Patriot League Tennis Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Lehigh graduate student Sean Jaeger and Boston University sophomore Gabriella Mikaul earned Patriot League Tennis Player of the Week honors when the League announced its awards on Tuesday.
 
Jaeger captured Patriot League Men’s Tennis Player of the Week recognition after going a perfect 4–0 at No. 1 singles and doubles, helping Lehigh to wins over Saint Joseph’s and Saint Francis.
 
Mikaul was named Patriot League Women’s Tennis Player of the Week after going 2–0 at the top singles and doubles spots in Boston University’s 7–0 sweep of Bucknell.
 
Army West Point senior Marcus Sebastian, Boston University freshman David Asenov, Bucknell senior Amar Tahirovic and sophomore Natalie Devraj, Army West Point sophomore Emma Sy, Colgate senior Sasha Herman, and Lehigh junior Maggie Forkner earned honorable mention recognition.

Patriot League Men’s Player of the Week
Sean Jaeger, Lehigh, Gr., Allentown, Pa./Emmaus

*Jaeger went a perfect 4–0 at No. 1 singles and doubles, helping Lehigh to wins over Saint Joseph’s and Saint Francis.
*He earned straight-set victories at No. 1 singles against Santiago Valle-Saenz (6-4, 6-4) and Kevin Titus Suresh (6-1, 6-2).
*Jaeger also secured two 6-3 wins at No. 1 doubles alongside Alex Van Lumich.

Patriot League Women’s Player of the Week
Gabriella Mikaul, Boston University, So., Manalapan, N.J./Laurel Springs School

*Mikaul went 2–0 at the top singles and doubles spots in Boston University’s 7–0 sweep of Bucknell.
*She clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory alongside Nancy Liu and added a 6-3, 6-2 straight-set win at No. 1 singles.
*The Terriers improved to 2–0 in Patriot League play with the victory.

Honorable Mentions
Marcus Sebastian, Army West Point, Sr., Woodland Hills, Calif./Calabasas

Sebastian went 3–0 on the weekend, earning a straight-set win at No. 2 singles and two doubles victories alongside Tucker Culpepper against FDU. He helped Army West Point to a pair of wins with consistent performances in the top half of the lineup.
 
David Asenov, Boston University, Fr., Toronto, Ontario/Northview Heights
Asenov went 3–1 across singles and doubles, picking up wins at No. 1 singles and doubles against Merrimack and adding a three-set victory at No. 2 singles versus SNHU.
 
Amar Tahirovic, Bucknell, Sr., Stuttgart, Germany/Stuttgart
Tahirovic went 3–0 with two straight-set wins at No. 1 singles against ITA-ranked Saint Joseph’s and Drexel, extending his singles winning streak to eight matches. He also added a doubles victory and improved to 102 career singles wins.
 
Emma Sy, Army West Point, So., Port Washington, N.Y./Paul D. Schreiber
Sy earned a straight-set victory (6-1, 6-4) over Marist’s Viktoria Lorentzon in her lone match of the weekend.
 
Natalie Devraj, Bucknell, So., Mandeville, La./Mandeville
Devraj dominated in Bucknell’s win over Merrimack, winning her doubles match 6-0 and her singles match 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 spot. She split results on the weekend as the Bison went 1–1.
 
Sasha Herman, Colgate, Sr., Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven
Herman clinched the match-winning singles point in Colgate’s victory over Wagner with a straight-set win at line five. She also picked up doubles victories in both matches alongside Carina Cristobal.
 
Maggie Forkner, Lehigh, Jr., Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville
Forkner went 3–0 at No. 1 singles, earning victories over Temple, Saint Francis and Saint Joseph’s.
