WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point and Navy posted matching team scores of 13-over-par 293 to finish the first round of the 2026 Patriot League Men’s Golf Championship tied atop the team leaderboard at the West Point Golf Course in West Point, N.Y.
The Mids’ Jack Tarzy is among a four-way tie for first place on the individual leaderboard after shooting a 1-over-par 71 during a sunny and cool first round at West Point. Lehigh’s Ryan Cronin and Holy Cross’ Leo Chu and Alex Elia are all 1-over-par through 18 holes.
The host Black Knights are tied for the top spot with two golfers among the top five on the individual leaderboard, with Grant Paolucci (+2, 72) and Tyson Sparks (+2, 72) tied for fifth place overall. The Midshipmen are led by Tarzy, with Chip Deegan (+3, 73) among the top 10.
Reigning champion Loyola Maryland and last season’s runner-up Holy Cross are tied for third, shooting team scores of 14-over-par 294 through 18 holes. The Crusaders’ Elia and Chu are atop the leaderboard, while the Greyhounds’ Diego Neira (+3, 73) and Jackson Roman (+3, 73) are tied for eighth after the first round.
Lehigh is fifth with a team score of 17-over-par 297, with Cronin leading the Mountain Hawks in a tie for first place in the individual standings. Lafayette sits two strokes behind at 19-over-par 299, with Travis Robertson, Harry Dessel and Liam Brandt tied for 11th place at 11-over-par 74.
Colgate is seventh, carding a team score of 20-over-par 300, led by Ronav Benak’s 2-over-par 72. Bucknell rounds out the eight-team field, shooting 24-over-par 304. Taylor Kuehn leads the Bison in a tie for 11th place at 4-over-par 74.

CROWNING A TEAM CHAMPION: Each of the eight participating teams consists of six golfers, with the top four scorers in each round counting toward the team score. The final team score will be determined by totaling all completed rounds. Individual scoring consists of the lowest aggregate score of all completed rounds.
INDIVIDUAL HONORS: The competitor with the lowest three-round score will be the Patriot League Men’s Golf Championship individual medalist. The top six finishers receive a spot on the Patriot League Men’s Golf All-Tournament Team. The Patriot League men’s golf major awards - player of the year, rookie of the year and coaching staff of the year – will be selected by the coaches at the conclusion of the championship.
TEAM CHAMPION EARNS AUTOMATIC BID TO THE NCAA REGIONALS: The Patriot League Champion will receive the League’s automatic bid to the NCAA DI Men’s Golf Regionals. The individual medalist will also receive a bid to the regionals if they are not on the championship team. The NCAA Regionals will be held from May 18-20 at six sites around the country, including Athens, Ga., Bermuda Run, N.C., Bryan, Texas, Columbus, Ohio, Corvallis, Ore. and Marana, Ariz. The NCAA Championship is scheduled for May 29 to June 3 in Carlsbad, Calif.
