Army West Point Storms in Front after Two Rounds at the 2026 Patriot League Men’s Golf Championship (4.25.26)

Lehigh’s Cronin sits atop the individual leaderboard, followed by Army’s Sparks and Jeffords

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point posted a team score of 6-over par 286 to grab sole possession of first place heading into Sunday’s final round at the 2026 Patriot League Men’s Golf Championship at the West Point Golf Course in West Point, N.Y.
 
The Black Knights hold a five-stroke lead over second-place Lafayette, by carding a 19-over par 579 through two rounds. Army West Point’s Drew Jeffords shot a tournament-best 3-under par 67 during a rain-soaked second round to move into third place on the overall leaderboard, one stroke behind teammate Tyson Sparks, who shot a 1-over par 71 to sit at 3-over par 143 (72-71) with 18 holes left to play.
 
Lehigh’s Ryan Cronin holds a three-stroke lead atop the individual leaderboard, firing a 1-under par 69 in the second round to enter Sunday’s round at even par 140 (71-69). He leads a Mountain Hawks squad that is sixth on the team leaderboard at 34-over par 594.
 
Lafayette moved into second place, recording a team score of 5-over par 285, the best team round of the championship, moving to 24-over par 584 through 36 holes. Viktor Kofod-Olsen and Reed Theiss carded even par 70 rounds, with Kofod-Olsen moving into a four-way tie for eighth place with teammates Travis Robertson and Liam Brandt and Loyola Maryland’s Eli Spaulding.
 
The defending champion Greyhounds are third with a two-round team score of 26-over par 586. Diego Neira leads Loyola Maryland in a tie for fourth place, shooting a 5-over par 145 (73-72), with Liam Moloney tied for sixth (+6, 146).
 
Navy slipped to fourth in the team standings, one stroke behind the Greyhounds, at 27-over par 587. Chip Deegan leads the Midshipmen in a tie for fourth place at 5-over par 145. Holy Cross is fifth entering the final round at 30-over par 590, with Leo Chu shooting a team-best 6-over par 146 to tie for sixth place on the individual leaderboard.
 
Bucknell (+47, 607) and Colgate (+51, 611) round out the eight-team field. The Bison’s Taylor Kuehn and the Raiders’ Ronav Benak are part of a five-way tie for 12th place at 8-over par 148 to lead their respective squads.
 
QUINN’S HOLE-IN-ONE FIRST AT PATRIOT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SINCE 2017
Lehigh’s Matthew Quinn aced the 191-yard sixth hole for the first hole-in-one at the Patriot League Men’s Golf Championship since 2017. Quinn is the second Lehigh men’s golfer to accomplish the feat, joining Johnny Hsu and the sixth in the history of the Patriot League Men’s Golf Championship.

CROWNING A TEAM CHAMPION: Each of the eight participating teams consists of six golfers, with the top four scorers in each round counting toward the team score. The final team score will be determined by totaling all completed rounds. Individual scoring consists of the lowest aggregate score of all completed rounds.
 
INDIVIDUAL HONORS: The competitor with the lowest three-round score will be the Patriot League Men’s Golf Championship individual medalist. The top six finishers receive a spot on the Patriot League Men’s Golf All-Tournament Team. The Patriot League men’s golf major awards - player of the year, rookie of the year and coaching staff of the year – will be selected by the coaches at the conclusion of the championship. 
 
TEAM CHAMPION EARNS AUTOMATIC BID TO THE NCAA REGIONALS: The Patriot League Champion will receive the League’s automatic bid to the NCAA DI Men’s Golf Regionals. The individual medalist will also receive a bid to the regionals if they are not on the championship team. The NCAA Regionals will be held from May 18-20 at six sites around the country, including Athens, Ga., Bermuda Run, N.C., Bryan, Texas, Columbus, Ohio, Corvallis, Ore. and Marana, Ariz. The NCAA Championship is scheduled for May 29 through June 3 in Carlsbad, Calif.
