July 9, 2001

Bethlehem, Pa. -- The U.S. Military Academy men's tennis team captured seven of a possible 12 selections on the 2001 All-League men's tennis team, as voted on by the League's head coaches. The All-League team consists of six singles players and three doubles combinations.

Leading the way for the Black Knights, the 2001 League champions, is senior captain Marshall Clay. Clay grabbed his third-straight singles and fourth-straight doubles selection. Clay was also named Co-Tournament MVP along with fellow doubles partner senior Andy Burdette. Burdette and Clay were selected as an All-League doubles team.

Army sophomore Arnie Albornoz and freshman John Sabia, along with Navy sophomore Cameron Lickle all earned dual All-League status. Albornoz, who earned his second-straight All-League singles selection, also picked up a doubles honor with teammate and fellow singles selection Sabia. Lickle teams up with classmate Chris McGrath for the doubles honor, in addition to the singles award.

Rounding out the singles All-League team are Navy senior captain Ben Salomon and Colgate freshman Eric Saccullo.

Army head coach Steve Strome was awarded his fourth Coach of the Year honor by his peers. Strome also won the award in 1993, 1995 and 2000. He is the first men's tennis coach to win the League coaching award in back-to-back seasons.
