MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The American University women's tennis team lost 5-2 to Barry University Tuesday afternoon at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex.

Senior Olga Mikhailova and freshman Ashley Retlev earned wins in singles for the Eagles. Mikhailova defeated Valeria Papandra at No. 4 by scores of 6-4, 0-6, 11-3. Retlev took the first set, 7-5, before her opponent Carole Steinhauser retired in the second set.

AU plays Seton Hall at Lynn University on Wednesday before hosting its home opener on Saturday morning against Howard.
