Patriot League Announces M-F Athletic Indoor Track and Field Weekly Awards (1.24.17)
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Each Patriot League indoor track and field program was in action last week, beginning with the Mids hosting the Navy Mid-Week Invitational that included League rivals American and Loyola Maryland. Navy later hosted the Navy Open on Saturday, while the Eagles won three events and Greyhound women’s distance medley relay squad finished second at the Terrapin Invitational.
The Army West Point men captures first place, accumulating 134 points at Friday’s Joe Donahue Games. The women also posted a strong performance earning three gold medals. Boston University hosted the Multi-Team Meet with Boston College, UMass Lowell and Sacred Heart, with the men’s and women’s teams each turning in gold medal-winning performances.
The Bucknell men and women each earned team victories at the Gulden Invitational at Gerhard Fieldhouse on Saturday. The men won eight events, while the women won six on a victorious Saturday. Colgate competed at the Upstate Challenge at Cornell on Saturday, as the women finished fifth (28 points), while the men finished seventh overall (23 points). The Holy Cross men’s and women’s teams fell to New Hampshire on Saturday. The Crusader men were defeated, 226-185 by the Wildcats, while the women were downed, 218-209 at the Paul Sweet Oval in Durham, N.H.
Lehigh defeated Lafayette on in their annual rivalry meet on Saturday at Rauch Fieldhouse in Bethlehem. The Mountain Hawk men won for the fourth straight year, 107-74, while the Lehigh women won, 114-66, their ninth consecutive win.
This weekend will also feature a full slate of indoor track and field action around the Patriot League, with Army West Point, Bucknell and Lehigh each competing on Friday, before American, Boston University, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Loyola Maryland and Navy competing on Saturday.

M-F ATHLETIC PATRIOT LEAGUE MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Paul Luevano, Boston U., Fr., Distance, Los Angeles, Calif.
Luevano won the one-mile run at the Boston University Multi-Team Meet last Thursday with a time of 4:06.46. The time was not only his personal-best, but the top time in the Patriot League and 34th-best in NCAA Division I this season.

Toria Levy, Boston U., Sr., Hurdles/Sprints, Weston, Fla.
Levy won the 60-meter hurdles with an ECAC-qualifying time of 8.62, the fastest time in the Patriot League this season. She also finished second in the 200-meter dash in 25.14 the third fastest time in the League.

Nicholas Lombardo, Bucknell, Jr., Jumps, Darien Conn.
Lombardo earned most valuable player at the Gulden Invitational after winning the long jump with a leap of 23-4 (7.11m), an IC4A-qualifying distance and top jump in the Patriot League this season. He also finished second in the high jump with a jump of 6-8.25, while recording a triple jump of 44-2.5, the 14th-best in the League.

Kaitlyn Toman, Lehigh, So., Pole Vaulter, Allentown, Pa.
Toman broke the Lehigh school record in the pole vault, clearing 11’11.25 (3.64 meters), for the fourth-best mark in the League this season. She is less than a half inch off of the best mark in the League this season. Toman was named the Female Field Athlete of the Meet in the Lafayette-Lehigh Dual Meet.

Matthew Kravitz, Lehigh, Fr., Distance, Moscow, Pa.
Kravitz won the one-mile run at the Lehigh-Lafayette Dual Meet with an adjusted time of 4:11.54 for the fourth-best time in the Patriot League this season. His time was an IC4A-qualifier and personal record, helping him earn Male Track Athlete of the Meet.
M-F ATHLETIC PATRIOT LEAGUE FEMALE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Kaitlin Salisbury, Bucknell, Fr., Sprints/Jumps, Hawthorne, N.J.
Salisbury won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.77, finished second in the long jump with an ECAC-qualifying distance of 18-10.5 and placed in the top-five triple jump with a leap of 38-2 (11.63 meters), which is the third furthest distance in the Patriot League this season.

Kordell Williams, Navy, So., Sprints, Upper Marlboro, Md.
Williams broke Navy’s program record in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line with a time of 8.06. Williams previously shared the program record of 8.07. His time is now the fastest in the Patriot League by 0.17 seconds.
David McGriff, Lafayette, Jr., Thrower, Flemington, N.J.
McGriff won the weight throw at the Lafayette-Lehigh Dual Meet with an IC4A-qualifying time of 56-11.5 (17.36 meters), the third-best mark in the Patriot League this season. He also finished second in the shot put with a distance of 50-4 (15.36 meters).
Christine Bendzinski, Bucknell, Jr., Distance, Hebron, Conn.
Bendzinski won the 3,000-meter run with an ECAC-qualifying time of 9:41.26, 19 seconds in front of the second-place finisher. She also surpassed last week’s female track athlete of the week, Lehigh’s Maura Henderson, for the fastest 3,000-meter time of the season in the Patriot League.
Drew Davis, Lafayette, Sr., Mid-Distance, Flourtown, Pa.
Davis finished first in the 200-meter run (25.85) and 400-meter run (58.41) at the Lafayette-Lehigh Dual Meet. Davis holds the top 400m time in the Patriot League, while her 200m time is eighth in the League.
Kamryn Brinson, Army West Point, Fr., Thrower, Atlanta, Ga.
Brinson won the weight throw at the Joe Donahue Games with a toss of 17.73. She finished 0.3 meters short of her season-best throw of 17.76, which is the top mark in the Patriot League this season.
