Patriot League Announces Men’s and Women’s Tennis Weekly Awards (3.10.20)

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Navy sophomore Annalise Klopfer earned the Patriot League Female Tennis Player of the Week while Lafayette sophomore William Barry was named the men’s tennis player of the week when the League office announced the awards on Tuesday.
 
Colgate sophomore Rohan Gupta and freshman Rebecca Wolf, and Lafayette sophomore Maureen McCormack all received an honorable mention nod.
 
Men’s Player of the Week
William Barry, Lafayette, So., Beverly Farms, Mass./Brooks School
* Barry factored in two of the three wins by the Leopards against Niagara this past weekend.
* The sophomore delivered a straight-set win at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-4) and then paired with John Yurconic for a 7-6 victory at No. 1 doubles.
 
Women’s Player of the Week
Annalise Klopfer, Navy, So., Palm Harbor, Fla./Clearwater Central Catholic
* Klopfer competed in No. 2 doubles with partner Aimee Dervishian and earned a 6-0 win against Temple’s duo of Ruoyo Chen and Rine Nozaki.
* The sophomore also earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles against Stefaniya Surikova.
* Klopfer is currently 15-10 in singles matches this year.
 
Honorable Mentions
Rohan Gupta, Colgate, So., Chicago, Ill./Glenbrook South
* Gupta picked up a pair of No. 1 doubles wins against Hofstra (7-6) and Le Moyne (6-3) this past weekend.

Rebecca Wolf, Colgate, Fr., Pepper Pike, Ohio/Hathaway Brown
* Wolf has won five doubles matches in a row with two wins on court one against Hofstra (6-4) and Roberts Wesleyan (6-1).

Maureen McCormack, Lafayette, So., Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Ponte Vedra
* McCormack extended her winning streak between No. 2 and No. 3 singles to six matches with a straight set win (6-3, 6-3) over Niagara.
