BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point, Holy Cross and Lehigh split the three Patriot League baseball weekly awards when the League office announced honors on Tuesday.
Army West Point junior second baseman Kevin Dubrule collected Patriot League Player of the Week after batting .550 (11-for-20) and a five-game week that included four games against No. 21 TCU.
Lehigh senior LHP Luke Rettig claimed his second Patriot League Pitcher of the Year after tossing a complete-game shutout against VMI in the Mountain Hawks 8-0 victory.
Holy Cross freshman third baseman Nick Wang received his third straight Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors after batting .529 (9-for-17) with five runs and three RBIs in five games for the Crusaders. The Newton, Mass native doubled four times and walked nine times last week.
Army West Point junior RHP Robbie Buecker, Holy Cross senior RHP Nick Escoto, Lehigh junior catcher Adam Retzbach and Navy sophomore RHP Matthew Shirah all received honorable mentions for their performances last week.
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kevin Dubrule, Army West Point, Jr., 2B, Venice, Fla./Venice
*Dubrule batted .550 (11-for-20) during a five-game week, including going 7-for-11 with four runs scored in the Black Knights’ four-game series against No. 21 TCU. He also drove in four runs last week and stole one base.
*The Venice, Fla. native recorded four multi-hit games, including going 3-for-4 in Army West Point’s last two games against the Horned Frogs.
*The junior second baseman also had 19 assists and 10 putouts without an error last week.
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Luke Rettig, Lehigh, Sr., LHP, Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area
*Rettig tossed a complete-game shutout to lead Lehigh to an 8-0 victory in the first game of Friday’s doubleheader against VMI.
*The senior lefty scattered three hits in 7.0 innings while striking out five and walking two to earn his third win of the season.
*Rettig is 3-1 with a 0.43 ERA and 26 strikeouts through 21.0 innings of work this season.
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Nick Wang, Holy Cross, Fr., 3B, Newton, Mass./Buckingham Browne & Nichols
*Wang batted .529 (9-for-17) last week while slugging .765 and reaching base at a .667 clip in five games.
*The three-time rookie of the week scored five runs and had three RBIs with four doubles last week. He also walked nine times in five games.
*The freshman third baseman posted multi-hit performances in the first two games against Richmond.

Robbie Buecker, Army West Point, Jr., RHP, Allentown, N.J./Notre Dame
*Buecker allowed one run on four hits over 6.0 innings in a no-decision against No. 21 TCU on Saturday. He struck out four, leaving the game with a lead. He also tossed 1.2 innings of relief in a victory against UT Arlington.
Nick Escoto, Holy Cross, Sr., RHP, Vienna, Va./Gonzaga
*Escoto made two appearances spanning 7.0 innings last week, including earning a win against Richmond by tossing 2.0 scoreless innings. He struck out four and allowed one earned run on one hit through five innings against VMI.
Adam Retzbach, Lehigh, Jr., C, Greenfield Township, Pa./Lakeland
*Retzbach batted .571 (4-for-7) with three runs and three RBIs, while slugging 1.000 and reaching base at a .667 clip in two games against VMI. He also homered in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader.
Matthew Shirah, Navy, So., RHP, Blue Ridge, Ga./Fannin County
*Shirah allowed one run on four hits over 6.2 innings to earn a 4-1 win over Marist on Friday. The sophomore righty struck out six and walked one for his first win of the season.
