Patriot League Announces Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week (4.26.22)

Navy collects three weekly honors, Army West Point picks up two and Lehigh claims one

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy won three of the six Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field weekly honors when the League office announced awards on Tuesday. Army West Point picked up two and Lehigh claimed one.
 
Navy junior Winter Boese claimed her first Patriot League Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor after breaking a program record and posting the best time in the League in the 3,000 meters (10:14.85) at the Virginia Challenge. Senior Erin Higgins captured women’s outdoor field athlete of the week honors by winning the heptathlon (5,395) posting a program-record score, which is best in the League and 38th in NCAA DI this season. Freshman Jacques Guillaume earned men’s outdoor rookie of the week by posting IC4A-qualifying times in the 200 meters and 400 meters at Navy Spring Meet II.
 
Army West Point senior Jamir Gibson received his second Patriot League Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week after posting a League-best shot put mark of 19.09 meters, the 22nd best throw in NCAA DI this season at the Virginia Challenge. Freshman Emily Fink claimed her fourth women’s outdoor rookie of the week with ECAC-qualifying marks in the shot put and hammer throw.
 
Lehigh senior Kyle Burke collected his second-consecutive Patriot League Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 800 meters at the Virginia Challenge with a League-best time of 1:48.45. His time is ranked 35th in NCAA DI this season.
 
Army West Point senior Abigail Green and sophomore Thomas Vo, Bucknell senior Michaela Bracken and sophomore Siobhan O’Sullivan, Lafayette senior Billy Prebola, Holy Cross junior Annie Lineberger and Navy junior Alex Rizzo garnered honorable mention recognition for their performances last week.
 
Patriot League Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Kyle Burke, Lehigh, Sr., Middle-Distance, Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights
*Burke finished first in the 800 meters with an IC4A-qualifying time of 1:48.45 at the Virginia Challenge.
*His 800m time is the best in the Patriot League and 35th in NCAA DI this season, in addition to breaking a Lehigh program record.

Patriot League Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Winter Boese, Navy, Jr., Distance, Clark, Colo./Steamboat Springs
*Boese recorded an ECAC-qualifying time in the 3,000 meters finishing sixth in 10:14.85 at the Virginia Challenge.
*Her time broke a program record, is the best in the Patriot League and 40th in NCAA DI this season.
 
Patriot League Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Jamir Gibson, Army West Point, Sr., Throws, Zion, Ill./Zion-Benton Township
*Gibson posted IC4A-qualifying marks at the Virginia Challenge by placing third in the shot put (19.09m) and second in the discus (57.86m).
*His shot put mark ranks first in the Patriot League and is 22nd in NCAA DI.  

Patriot League Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Erin Higgins, Navy, Sr., Multis, Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge
*Higgins placed first at Navy Spring Meet II with ECAC-qualifying marks in the heptathlon (5,395). She cleared 1.70 meters in the heptathlon high jump to place first with the eight-best mark in program history.
*Her heptathlon score is the best in program history in addition to ranking first in the League and 38th in NCAA.
 
Patriot League Men’s Outdoor Rookie of the Week
Jacques Guillaume, Navy, Fr., Sprints, Jacksonville, Fla./Mandarin
*Guillaume won the 400 meters with an IC4A-qualifying time of 47.97 seconds. He also finished fourth in the 200 meters with an IC4A-qualifying time of 21.54 seconds at Navy Spring Meet II.
*His 200m time is fourth in the Patriot League this season and second-fastest among freshmen.
 
Patriot League Women’s Outdoor Rookie of the Week
Emily Fink, Army, Fr., Distance, Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North
*Fink recorded ECAC-qualifying distances in two events, finishing sixth in the shot put (15.14m) and seventh in the hammer throw (57.73m) at the Virginia Challenge.
*She has the best shot put mark and third-best hammer throw distance in the Patriot League this season.

Abigail Green, Army West Point, Sr., Throws, St. Louis, Mo./Francis Howell Central
*Green recorded ECAC-qualifying marks in the hammer throw (60.80m) and the discus (43.71) at the Virginia Challenge. Her hammer throw mark is second in the Patriot League this season.
 
Thomas Vo, Army West Point, So., Distance, Cary, N.C./Green Hope
*Vo placed second at the Virginia Challenge in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an IC4A-qualifying time of 9:06.84, the second-best mark in the Patriot League this season.
 
Michaela Bracken, Bucknell, Sr., Sprints, Vintondale, Pa./United
*Bracken finished first in the 400-meters hurdles with an ECAC-qualifying time of 1:00.98, and second in the high jump with an ECAC-qualifying height of 1.74 meters at the Bucknell Team Challenge. Her high jump mark broke a program record while her hurdles time ranks third in Bucknell school history.  
 
Siobhan O’Sullivan, Bucknell, So., Throws, Quincy, Mass./Ursuline Academy
*O’Sullivan finished first in the shot put, 10th in the discus, and 21st in the hammer throw at the Bucknell Team Challenge. Her shot put distance of 13.96 meters is an ECAC-qualifying mark and the sixth-best in school history.
 
Billy Prebola, Lafayette, Sr., Throws, Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock
*Prebola placed first in the javelin at the Bucknell Team Challenge with an IC4A-qualifying distance of 66.1 meters. His throw was a personal best and was the second-best throw in Lafayette program history.
 
Annie Lineberger, Holy Cross, Jr., Jumps, Fairhope, Ala./Fairhope
*Lineberger won the pole vault at the Holy Cross Invitational by clearing an ECAC-qualifying height of 3.93 meters. Her jump is the best in the Patriot League and a personal best.
 
Joshua Boamah, Navy, So., Throws, San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch
*Boamah completed the trifecta at Navy Spring Meet II with victories in the shot put, discus and hammer throw. His IC4A-qualifying throw in the discus (52.34m) and hammer throw (61.29m) are both third in the Patriot League this season.
 
Alex Rizzo, Navy, Jr., Middle-Distance, Bronxville, N.Y./ Bronxville
*Rizzo finished first in the 1,500 meters with an IC4A-qualifying time of 3:41.59, and second in the 800 meters with an IC4A-qualifying time of 1:48.53 at the Virginia Challenge. His Navy program-record 1,500-meter time is the best in the Patriot League and ranks 56th in NCAA DI this season. Additionally, his 800 meters time is second in the League and 37th in NCAA DI.
