Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Announced (1.23.24)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy swept the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Weekly honors when the awards were announced on Tuesday. 

Senior Brahmir Vick earned Patriot League Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors after establishing a school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.67 seconds. Vick's time currently ranks 19th in the nation. Fellow senior Emily Boutin won Patriot League Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors following a first-place finish in the 3000 meters. Boutin's time gives her the three best marks in Navy history in the 3000m - and currently ranks her 81st nationally in the event.  

Joshua Boamah collected his third Patriot League Men's Field Athlete of the Week nod of the season after winning the weight throw and shot put. Boamah's mark of 20.88m (68' 6") in the weight throw is his second best mark this season, and he currently holds seven of the top 10 marks in Navy history. Nashville, Tenn. native Annie Taylor garnered Patriot League Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors after earning 3,813 points in the pentathlon. Taylor's mark is the second-best in Navy history and places her ninth among NCAA Division I competition.  

Freshman Sheldon Ulmer earned Patriot League Men's Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season after a high jump mark of 2.09m (6' 10.25"), which places him 59th in NCAA DI. Meanwhile, fellow freshman Sophia Richter earned Patriot League Women's Rookie of the Week honors after posting a 56.26 second time in the 400m.  

Bucknell's Brandon Foust, Karen Hull and Justley Sharp all earned honorable mention nods alongside Boston University's Freddy Collins and Peace Omonzane.  

Patriot League Men's Track Athlete of the Week 
Brahmir Vick, Navy, Sr., Hurdles, Middletown, Del./Middletown 
*Vick broke the school record with a time of 7.76 seconds in the 60m hurdles.  
*His time currently ranks 19th in NCAA Division I. 
 
Patriot League Women's Track Athlete of the Week 
Emily Boutin, Navy, Sr., Distance, Chicopee, Mass./Pope Francis Prep 
*Boutin posted a strong 9:34.38 time in the 3000m en route to winning the event.  
*She now owns the top three 3000m marks in program history and currently ranks 81st nationally.  
 
Patriot League Men's Field Athlete of the Week 
Joshua Boamah, Navy, Sr., Throws, San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch 
*Boamah won the weight throw (20.88m / 68' 6") and shot put (17.85m / 58' 6.75"). 
*His weight throw is his second-best on the season, with his top mark ranking 21st in NCAA DI. 
*This is Boamah's third field athlete of the week award this season.  

Patriot League Women's Field Athlete of the Week 
Annie Taylor, Navy, Sr., Multis, Nashville, Tenn./Harpeth 
*Taylor won the pentathlon with 3,813 points which is good for second-best in program history. 
*Her point total currently ranks ninth across NCAA DI.  
*Throughout the event, she placed top-three in the 60m hurdles, high jump, 800m, shot put, and long jump.  

Patriot League Men's Rookie of the Week 
Sheldon Ulmer, Navy, Fr., Jumps, Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford  
* Ulmer won the high jump with a mark of 2.09m (6' 10.25"), which is tops amongst Patriot League freshmen.  
*His mark places him 59th in NCAA Division I.  
*This is Ulmer's third rookie of the week award this season.  
 
Patriot League Women's Rookie of the Week 
Sophia Richter, Navy, Fr., Sprints/Hurdles, Louisville, Ky./Eastern 
*Richter won the 400m with a time of 56.26 seconds, which is good for second overall in the Patriot League.   
*She also was part of the 4X400m relay that finished third. 

 
Honorable Mention 
Freddy Collins, Boston University, So., Distance, Stow, Mass./Nashoba Regional  
*Collins ran a 4:03.90 mile in his season debut, which is good for 47th in NCAA DI. 
 
Brandon Foust, Bucknell, Jr., Sprints, Wynnewood, Pa./Hamilton 
*Foust won the 200m (22.02) and placed second in the 60m (6.89).  
*He was also a member of the 4X400m relay that finished first (3:19.69). 

Karen Hull, Bucknell, Sr., Jumps/Hurdles, Randolph, N.J./Randolph 
*Hull set the indoor school record in the long jump with a leap of 5.94m (19' 6") and won the event.  
*Her mark ranks 60th in NCAA DI.  
 
Peace Omonzane, Boston University, So., Jumps, Brampton, Ontario/St. Edmund Campion Catholic   
*Omozane posted a triple jump mark of 12.90m (42' 4") which ranks 15th in NCAA DI and is the second-best mark in school history.  

Justley Sharp, Bucknell, Fr., Throws, Homer City, Pa./Homer Center 
*Sharp won the shot put with a mark of 14.46m (47' 5.25").
