U.S. Naval Academy Sweeps 2023-24 Patriot League Championships for Fourth-Consecutive Season

Six Patriot League Records Broken on Day Two

BOSTON, Mass. - The Navy Midshipmen swept the 2023-24 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships, claiming the men's and women's titles after the two-day meet at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. The day saw six Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships records established.
 
The Midshipmen men earned their fourth-straight team title and their 14th overall Patriot League Indoor Track and Field title, finishing with 242.5 points. Army West Point placed second with 152.5, while Boston University finished third with 110 points. Bucknell (60.5) and Holy Cross (40) closed out the top five. Lehigh (35), American (25), Colgate (21) and Lafayette (14.5) rounded out the men's field.
 
Navy's women earned their fifth-straight team title and the eighth in program history with 188 points. Boston University (148) and Army West Point (135) finished second and third, respectively, with Bucknell (105.5) and Lehigh (56) rounding out the top five. Holy Cross (29.5), Lafayette (15), Loyola (13), American (10) and Colgate closed out the women's field.
 
Midshipmen Head Coach Jamie Cook collected Patriot League Men's and Women's Coach of the Year for the fourth-consecutive League indoor championship.
 
Navy sophomore Nathan Kent captured Patriot League Men's Track Athlete of the Meet after wins in the 200 meters, 400 meters, and 4X400 relay. Kent set a Patriot League Indoor Track Championship record in the 400m with a time of 46.83. He was also the Men's Highest Point-Scorer of the Meet.
 
Fellow Midshipmen Joshua Boamah earned Patriot League Men's Field Athlete of the Meet after wins in the shot put and weight throw. The senior set a League Indoor Championship mark in the weight throw with a mark of 21.91 meters.
 
Dakin Ebmeyer, a freshman at Colgate, took home Patriot League Men's Rookie of the Meet honors after placing fourth in the mile and running a strong leg for the Distance Medley Relay team that placed third.  
Boston University sophomore Vera Sjöberg was named Patriot League Women's Track Athlete of the Meet and Women's Highest Point-Scorer of the Meet after three gold medals in the mile run, 3,000 meters, and 5,000 meters. Her 30 points led all scorers across both genders on the weekend.
 
Terrier teammate Peace Omonzane earned Patriot League Women's Field Athlete of the Meet honors after winning the long jump and triple jump. Her mark of 12.79 meters in the triple jump established a new Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship record.
 
The U.S. Naval Academy's Sophia Richter took home the Patriot League Women's Rookie of the Meet award after winning gold in the 400 meters. She also ran a key leg for Navy's winning 4X400 meters relay and finished fifth in the 200 meters.
