BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola Maryland junior guard Jacob Theodosiou was named Patriot League Men’s Basketball PenFed Credit Union Player of the Week when the League office announced weekly honors on Monday. Colgate first-year Andrew Alekseyenko claimed rookie of the week honors.
Theodosiou captured the Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award after averaging 24.0 points on 60.6 percent shooting (20-of-33) to help the Greyhounds split a pair of games at the Mahoney Classic.
Alekseyenko collected Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week after averaging 19.5 points on 52 percent (11-of-21) shooting from the floor in Colgate’s win over Drexel and loss at No. 14 Illinois.
Boston University junior guard Michael McNair, Colgate junior guard Jalen Cox, Holy Cross junior guard/forward Joe Nugent, Lehigh junior guard Nasir Whitlock and Navy junior guard Jinwoo Kim earned honorable mentions for their performances during the opening week of the season.
The Patriot League men’s basketball players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s men’s basketball athletics communications contacts, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

*Alekseyenko averaged 19.0 points on 52 percent (11-of-21) from the field, while averaging 4.5 boards in Colgate’s win over Drexel (90-83) and loss at No. 14 Illinois.
*The first-year forward totaled 18 points, shooting 3-of-5 from the field and 12-of-14 from the charity stripe in the win over the Dragons.
*He scored a career-high 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting to go with six rebounds against the 14th-ranked Illini.

*McNair averaged 19.5 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game to help the Terriers go 1-1 last week, including a 90-77 win over Brown. He finished with 18 points, five boards and three steals against the Bears before matching his career-high with 21 points in a loss vs. Merrimack.

*Cox scored a career-high 26 points on 9-of-14 shooting and dished out nine assists in the Raiders’ 90-83 win over Drexel on Tuesday. He scored 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting, adding six rebounds and four assists in a loss against No. 14 Illinois.

*Nugent averaged 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 30.4 minutes per game to help Holy Cross go 1-1 last week. He scored 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc, and grabbed four boards in a loss at Utah. The junior guard scored a game-high 22 points, connecting on 6-of-10 from the field and 4-of-7 from 3-point range in a 67-61 win over Hampton on Saturday.

*Whitlock scored 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting and dished out three assists in Lehigh’s 84-72 loss at Rutgers on Friday.

*Kim averaged 19.5 points on 50 percent shooting (13-of-26), including 47 percent (8-of-17) from 3-point range in two games. The junior guard scored a career-high 25 points in the Mids’ 80-71 loss at Penn State. He finished with 14 points in a 97-64 win over Washington (Md.).
