Patriot League Men’s Basketball PenFed Credit Union Players of the Week Announced (11.24.25)

Colgate’s Cox and Alekseyenko capture weekly honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Colgate junior guard Jalen Cox was named Patriot League Men’s Basketball PenFed Credit Union Player of the Week when the League office announced weekly honors on Monday. Raiders’ first-year forward Andrew Alekseyenko received rookie of the week honors.
 
Cox collected Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award after averaging 23.0 points on 50 percent shooting (18-of-36) during the Raiders’ 1-1 week. He added 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals over two games.  
 
Alekseyenko captured his second straight Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week, averaging 17.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals to help Colgate split two games last week.
 
Boston University sophomore forward Ben Defty and freshman guard Chance Gladden, Holy Cross sophomore guard Tyler Boston and Navy senior guard Austin Benigni earned honorable mentions for their performances during the opening week of the season.
 
The Patriot League men’s basketball players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s men’s basketball athletics communications contacts, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

*Cox averaged 23.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals to help Colgate split a pair of games last week, including a 72-69 win over Siena.
*The junior guard scored 22 points, including a game-winning, half-court buzzer-beater in a victory over the Saints that earned him the No. 1 play on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10.
*He posted 24 points, six rebounds and six assists in the Raiders’ 95-94 double-overtime loss at Cornell.

*Alekseyenko averaged 17.0 points on 48 percent (13-of-27) shooting to go along with 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game during the Raiders’ 1-1 week.
*The first-year forward posted 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting in Colgate’s 72-69 win over Siena.
*He scored 17 points and added six rebounds and three steals in a 95-94 double-overtime loss at Cornell.

Ben Defty, Boston University, So., F, Berlin, Germany/St. Thomas More (Conn.)
*Defty averaged 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists to help Boston University split two games last week. He recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards in a loss at Columbia (54-49). The sophomore forward scored 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting in a 75-74 win over Harvard.
 
Chance Gladden, Boston University, Fr., G, Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft
*Gladden scored a team-high 17.0 points and added 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game to lead Boston University to a 1-1 week. He scored a team-high 20 points, including the game-winning basket with five seconds left in regulation in the Terriers’ 75-74 win over Harvard on Saturday. The freshman guard scored 12 of his team-high 14 points in the second half to lead a BU comeback attempt in a 59-49 loss at Columbia.
 
Tyler Boston, Holy Cross, So., G, Severn, Md./Bullis
*Boston averaged 14.0 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds in two games to lead Holy Cross. The sophomore guard scored 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, in a loss at Sacred Heart.
 
Austin Benigni, Navy, Sr., G, The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands Christian Academy
*Benigni scored 19.5 points to go along with 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in two games to help the Mids go 1-1 last week. The senior guard finished with 19 points, five rebounds and five assists in a loss against No. 18/19 North Carolina. He posted 20 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals in the Mids’ 86-70 win over NJIT.
