Patriot League Announces Swimmers and Divers of the Week (11.4.25)

Army West Point and Boston University each claimed two weekly honors; Loyola Maryland and Navy received one apiece

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point and Boston University each captured two of the six Patriot League men’s and women’s swimming and diving weekly awards when the League office announced the honors on Tuesday. Loyola Maryland and Navy won the remaining honors.
 
Loyola Maryland junior Joe Hayburn earned Patriot League Men’s Swimmer of the Week honors for the second straight week after winning the 200-yard backstroke (1:43.67) and the 100 backstroke (47.06) against West Virginia.
 
Army West Point senior Molly Webber won Patriot League Women’s Swimmer of the Week, presented by Credit Union One, for the second time this season by setting a program record in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.42) and winning the 100 freestyle (49.91) against Boston University and Boston College.
 
Boston University junior Zein Mahana was named Patriot League Men’s Diver of the Week after winning the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions against Army West Point and Boston College. His 3-meter score of 339.50 is his best collegiate mark.
 
Army West Point freshman Hadley Futch collected Patriot League Women’s Diver of the Week honors, presented by Credit Union One, after winning the 1-meter (288.20) and 3-meter (286.90) diving events against Boston University and Boston College.
 
Navy freshman Chase Maier was recognized as the Patriot League Men’s Rookie of the Week after winning the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:10.08) and 500-yard freestyle (4:28.00) in a win against George Washington.  
 
Boston University freshman KiKi Rampersad was named Patriot League Women’s Rookie of the Week, presented by Credit Union One, after winning the 100-yard butterfly against Army West Point and Boston College.
 
Honorable mentions went to American freshman Alex Way, Army West Point junior Thomas Hadji and freshman Amelia Lester, Boston University freshman Tyler Robinson and Navy senior Mackenzie Kim.
 
The Patriot League men’s and women’s swimmers and divers of the week were selected in a vote by League head coaches, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.
 
Patriot League Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Joe Hayburn, Loyola Maryland, Jr., Bowie, Md./St. Mary’s
*Hayburn was the top point-scorer in the Greyhounds’ meet against West Virginia on Sunday, winning two individual events, while being part of a winning relay and a second-place relay.
*He took first in the 200 backstroke with a season-best time of 1:43.67. He also won the 100 backstroke in 47.06.
 
Patriot League Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Molly Webber, Army West Point, Sr., Morris Plains, N.J./Morristown
*Webber earned two wins during a double dual meet against Boston University and Boston College, while helping Army earn a third-place relay finish.
*The senior swam a program-record time in winning the 200 freestyle (1:46.42), and won the 100 freestyle (49.90). She holds Army program records in five of the six women’s individual freestyle events (100, 200, 500, 1,000 and 1,650).
 
Patriot League Men’s Diver of the Week
Zein Mahana, Boston University, Jr., Princeton, N.J./Princeton
*Mahana won the 1-meter (286.85) and 3-meter (339.50) diving events in Boston University’s double dual meet against Army West Point and Boston College.
*His 3-meter score of 339.50 was his best collegiate mark, while he reached qualifying standards for zones on both boards.
 
Patriot League Women’s Diver of the Week
Hadley Futch, Army West Point, Fr., Sanford, Fla./Winter Springs
*Futch claimed first-place in the 1-meter (288.20) and 3-meter (286.90) diving competitions against Boston University and Boston College.
*She has recorded four first-place finishes during her first collegiate season.
 
Patriot League Men’s Rookie of the Week
Chase Maier, Navy, Fr., Aurora, Ill./Oswego East
*Maier won the 1,000 freestyle and 500 freestyle in Navy’s 184-111 victory against George Washington.
*His time of 9:10.08 was eight seconds faster than the second-place finisher in the 1,000 free. He finished more than two seconds in front of the second-place finisher with a time of 4:28.00 in the 500 free.
 
Patriot League Women’s Rookie of the Week
KiKi Rampersad, Boston University, Fr., Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades
*Rampersad won the 100 butterfly in a school-record time of 53.79 in a double dual meet against Army West Point and Boston College.
*She also competed as part of the Terriers’ 200 freestyle relay that broke a program record with a time of 1:31.87, swimming a 23.01 split.
 
Honorable Mentions
Alex Way, American, Fr., Falls Church, Va./Meridian
*Way posted a PR of 274.50 points to win the 1-meter diving event against Howard. His score ranks fourth in American program history.
 
Thomas Hadji, Army West Point, Jr., Valencia, Calif./Valencia
*Hadji earned two wins in a double dual meet against Boston University and Boston College. The Valencia, Calif. native anchored the Black Knights’ 200 medley relay team to a first-place finish in a pool-record time of 1:27.49.
*He finished second in the 200-free with a time of 1:21.05.
 
Amelia Lester, Army West Point, Fr., Heath, Texas/Rockwall-Heath
*Lester earned wins in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:16.19, finishing more than five seconds in front of the second-place finisher against Boston University and Boston College.
*The freshman also finished first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:59.39, the only sub-five-minute time of the day in the event.
 
Tyler Robinson, Boston University, Fr., Attleboro, Mass./Moses Brown
*Robinson finished second in the 1-meter dive (269.50) and third in the 3-meter dive (288.90) against Army West Point and Boston College.
*He was only bested by his Boston University teammates.
 
Mackenzie Kim, Navy, Sr., Diamond Bar, Calif./Diamond Bar
*Kim posted an NCAA B cut qualifying score on the 3-meter board (290.80) in Navy’s loss at George Washington.
*She also placed third on the 1-meter board (245.70).
