Sjöberg, Malleck Qualify for 2025 World Indoor Championships

BOSTON
— Junior Vera Sjöberg and graduate student Foster Malleck both qualified for the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China from March 21-23, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

Sjöberg and Malleck will both race in the 1500m run on March 21, with Sjöberg's heat beginning at 6:35 p.m. China Standard Time and 6:35 a.m. EST, and Malleck's kicking off at 7:20 p.m. China Standard time and 7:20 a.m. EST.

Sjöberg, a Stockholm, Sweden native, qualified by running a time of 4:09.89 in the 1500m during one of her mile runs this year at the Valentine Invitational at the Track & Tennis Center. She has the 62nd-fastest 1500m in the world this indoor season and is one of two Swedish runners to qualify for the race. 

Malleck, a Kitchener, Ontario native, ran a 3:38.16 in the 1500m during his mile run at the Terrier DMR Challenge at the TTC. He is 78th in the world in the event and is one of two Canadian men to qualify on time for the World Championships.
