Three Patriot League Records Broken on Day Two

Terrier Women Claim First Title Since 2016
ANNAPOLIS, MD. – The Boston University women and Navy men took home the 2024-25 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship team titles after the two-day meet at the United States Naval Academy. The day saw three Patriot League Indoor Track and Field records established.
 
The Midshipmen men earned their fifth-straight team title and their 10th Indoor Track and Field Title in the last 11 seasons, finishing with 223 points. It is the 15th overall title for the Mids, tying them with Army West Point for the most in Patriot League history. Army West Point placed second with 153 points, while Boston University finished third with 93. Bucknell (63) and Holy Cross (53) closed out the top five. Lehigh (38), Colgate (31), American (25) and Lafayette (23) rounded out the men’s field.
 
On the women’s side, Boston University won their third Patriot League Indoor Track and Field title and their first since 2016. The Terriers finished with 166 points. Navy (148.5) and Army West Point (139.5) finished second and third, respectively, with Lehigh (69) and Bucknell (52) rounding out the top five. Holy Cross (48), Lafayette (35), American (17), Colgate (15) and Loyola (12) closed out the women’s field.
 
Midshipmen Head Coach Jamie Cook collected Patriot League Men’s Coach of the Year for the fifth-consecutive League indoor championship. Boston University’s Grant Cartwright earned his first career Women’s Coach of the Year nod.

For the second straight season, Navy sophomore Nathan Kent captured Patriot League Men’s Track Athlete of the Meet after wins in the 200 meters, 400 meters, and 4X400 meters. He was also the Men’s Highest Point-Scorer of the Meet.

Army West Point junior Robby Manse earned Patriot League Men’s Field Athlete of the Meet after wins in the shot put and weight throw.

Khalil Antoine, a freshman at Holy Cross, took home Patriot League Men’s Rookie of the Meet honors after winning gold in the high jump and claiming fourth in the triple jump.

Boston University junior Vera Sjöberg was named Patriot League Women’s Track Athlete of the Meet and Women’s Highest Point-Scorer of the Meet for the second straight season after gold medals in the mile run, 3,000 meters, and 5,000 meters. Her 30 points led all scorers across both genders on the weekend. Her mile time of 4:40.14 established a new League record.
 
Fellow Terrier Peace Omonzane earned her second consecutive Patriot League Women’s Field Athlete of the Meet award after winning the long jump and triple jump. Her mark of 6.20 meters in the long jump established a new Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship record.

Bucknell’s Alex Lea took home the Patriot League Women’s Rookie of the Meet award with bronze-medal finishes in the 200 and 400 meters. She led all first-year student-athletes in points accumulated.

DAY TWO EVENT CAPSULES
MILE RUN
Boston University graduate student Foster Malleck broke the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Mile record, logging a 3:58.11 time to earn gold for the second consecutive year. The time also established a Wesley A. Brown facility record. Holy Cross junior Liam Lyons earned a runner-up finish in 4:01.94, while BU’s Parker Schneider claimed third in 4:03.24.

Vera Sjöberg continued her strong distance campaign taking the gold medal in 4:40.14, establishing a Patriot League Indoor Track and Field meet record. It was the second consecutive gold in the event for Sjöberg. Army West Point’s Mikayla Cheney logged a second-place finish in 4:40.71, while teammate Charlotte Richman finished third in 4:40.75. All three women finished with times better than the previous League record.
 
60-METER HURDLES
Holy Cross senior Joshua Exantus earned gold with an 8.12-second sprint to win the men’s 60-meter hurdles. Bucknell’s Brian Scotto earned silver in 8.16 seconds, while Holy Cross freshman Khalil Antoine logged a bronze-medal finish in 8.24 seconds.

Navy’s Jia Anderson secured back-to-back gold medals in the women’s 60-meter hurdles with an 8.529 second mark. Holy Cross senior Ella Gray (8.530) took silver, while Boston University’s Iman Roka (8.60) earned bronze.
 
400 METERS
Navy’s Nathan Kent won gold for the second straight season in a time of 46.93 in the men’s 400m. Fellow Mid Jacques Guillaume earned silver in 47.12, with Colgate’s Ethan Eisner rounding out the podium at 48.18.

Taylor Woodworth set a Wesley A. Brown facility record (54.28) to earn 10 points for Navy. American’s Lorelei Bangit (54.84) finished second and Bucknell’s Alex Lea (55.33) finished third.
 
60-METER DASH
Navy’s William Yurich secured gold in the men’s 60-meter dash (6.82). Fellow Midshipman Jonah Johnson came in second in 6.85 seconds, while Army West Point sophomore Jaxon Hammond logged a third-place finish in 6.88 seconds.

Lafayette sophomore Ida Moczerniuk won gold with a (7.48) in the women’s race. Loyola Maryland’s Lauryn Clarke took home the silver medal (7.52), with Holy Cross’ Abigail Desmarais (7.54) rounding out the podium.
 
800 METERS
American junior Carver Morgan set a Wesley A. Brown facility record with a time of 1:49.37 in the men’s 800m. Army West Point’s Kasen Jeitz (1:15.38) and Boston University’s Thomas Cowan (1:50.52) finished second and third, respectively.

Lehigh junior Abby Klebe secured gold for the Mountain Hawks in facility and meet record time of 2:07.01 in the women’s 800m. Nava Chevan of Lafayette earned silver with a time of 2:07.42, with Army West Point’s Cherokee Chambers logging a third-place finish in 2:09.03.
 
200 METERS
Navy’s Nathan Kent earned his second gold medal of the meet with a time of 20.98 in the men’s 200m. It was the second consecutive gold in the event for Kent at the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships. Navy’s Jonah Johnson finished second in 21.35, while Colgate’s Ethan Eisner finished third in 21.39.

Colgate’s Clair Gillis logged a 24.49-second time to win the women’s 200m. Lafayette’s Ida Moczerniuk (24.60) finished second, with Bucknell’s Alex Lea (24.82) claiming third.
 
3,000 METERS
Boston University’s Foster Malleck took home his second gold of the weekend in the men’s 3,000 meters. The Canadian national logged a time of 8:03.75. Navy senior Murphy Smith earned silver with a time of 8:08.46. BU’s Freddy Collins rounded out the podium in third with a time of 8:09.10.

Boston University’s Vera Sjöberg completed her sweep of the women’s distance events with a 9:29.07 time to win her third gold of the weekend. The Stockholm native swept the mile run, 3,000m and 5,000 in back-to-back Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships. Army West Point’s Charlotte Richman finished in 9:31.48 to earn silver, with Navy’s Sophie Compton logging a time of 9:36.02 to finish third.
 
DISTANCE MEDLEY RELAY
Navy (9:54.24) earned gold in the men’s DMR behind strong efforts from Luke Nester, David Walker, Carson Sloat and Matthew Newell. American’s (9:54.81) relay group of Daniel O’Neill, Brandon Williams, Carver Morgan and Kaden Kluth earned the silver medal, while the Holy Cross (9:55.16) quartet of Joseph Mahon, Logan Mott, Jack Noble and Liam Lyons took home the bronze.  
 
The Navy women also earned gold in the DMR for the fourth consecutive season. The Mids quartet of Katherine Leddy, Elektra Sanchez, Katelyn Pepin and Alexandra Wercinski finished in 11:42.16. Lehigh (11:43.16) claimed a runner-up finish behind the efforts of Lauryn Heskin, Lauren Bower, Amber Barrios and Abby Klebe. Boston University (11:43.37) earned the final spot on the podium as Maura Woodland-Medenilla, Lily Borin, Olivia Dodds and Sammy Seabury earned bronze medals.
 
4X400-METER RELAY
Navy (3:11.39) earned gold in the men’s 4x400 relay behind Peter deJonge, Jayden Evans, Jacques Guillaume and Nathan Kent. Army West Point’s (3:16.50) squad of Shawn Carter, Huston Powers, Chad Dohl and Kasen Jeitz finished as the runner-up. Preston Lubeski, Brandon Faust, Amani Ndegwa-Brown and Colby Belczyk claimed third for Bucknell (3:16.77).
 
The Navy women also earned gold in the 4x400 relay as the team of Sophia Richter, Savannah Swanda, Kylie Bedard and Taylor Woodwork finished in 3:46.18. Holy Cross (3:47.92) earned a second-place finish with strong runs from Molly O’Connor, Abigail Desmarais, Danielle DiEsso and Haley Murphy. The Lehigh quartet of Grace Kennedy, Jade Sanders, Kasey White and Svea Wickelgren claimed third in 3:48.99.
 
HIGH JUMP
Holy Cross freshman Khalil Antoine cleared 2.13-meters en route to his first career gold medal. Navy’s Sheldon Ulmer (2.10m) earned silver, while Lehigh senior Skyler Mott (2.07m) took home the bronze.
 
Army West Point junior Zoe Whaley won gold with a 1.71-meter leap. Lehigh’s Izabel Fronc (1.68m) finished as the runner-up, with Boston University’s Asia Hamilton (1.65) logging a third-place finish.
 
TRIPLE JUMP
Boston University’s Guy Margalit took gold in his Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship debut with a 15.40-meter leap. Army West Point’s Bret Wingard finished as the runner-up with a 15.22m mark, while Caleb Simbiri finished in third for Bucknell, clearing 14.80 meters.
 
Boston University swept the podium in the women’s triple jump. Junior Peace Omonzane (12.62m), senior Emma Lawrence (12.30m) and senior Asia Hamilton (11.87m) each medaled for the Terriers.
 
SHOT PUT
Army West Point’s Robby Manse secured his second gold medal of the weekend with a 17.89-meter mark in the shot put. Bucknell junior Wade Shomper (17.38m) claimed the silver medal, with Lehigh’s Joe Nowakowski (15.94m) taking home the bronze.
 
Army West Point senior Emily Fink won the shot put with a mark of 15.77 meters, with fellow Black Knight Jordan Hecht finishing as the runner-up with a 15.61-meter mark. Bucknell’s sophomore Justley Sharp finished third with a mark of 15.43m.
 
HEPTATHLON
Navy swept the heptathlon podium behind the trio of Thomas Christie (5,117 points), Justice Hood (5,064 points) and Nicolas Simmons (5,055 points). Christie won the high jump event, while Simmons earned a victory in the 60-meter dash.
