Patriot League Announces Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week (4.8.25)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy took home three Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field weekly awards when the honors were announced by the League office on Tuesday. Army West Point had two honorees, while Bucknell earned the final award.  
 
Junior Midshipman Nathan Kent was named Patriot League Outdoor Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after earning 15 points for the Mids in their 104-99 victory over Army in the Star Meet. He logged a Patriot League-leading 200-meter dash time of 20.82, which ranks 42nd in NCAA DI. Kent also ran the second leg of the men’s 4x100-meter relay (39.64) and the men’s 4x400-meter relay (3:13.50). The 4x100 mark established a school record for the Naval Academy. Navy’s senior Annie Lemelin earned Patriot League Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honors after logging 21 points, across five events, in Navy’s 107-96 victory over Army at the Star Meet. She won gold for the Mids in the 100-meter dash (11.89), 400-meter hurdles (1:02.43) and 4x100-meter relay (46.20). The Pennsylvania native also scored in the 100-meter hurdles and 4x400-meter relay.
 
Army West Point’s Carlos Posey earned Patriot League Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after winning a gold medal in the long jump (7.29m | 23’ 11”) and a silver medal in the high jump (2.07m | 6’ 9.5”). The high jump mark ranks 68th in NCAA DI and is tied for the lead in the Patriot League. Army West Point senior Emily Fink was named Patriot League Women’s Field Athlete of the Week after she broke the Star Meet and Ingram Field records in the hammer throw with a mark of 65.86m (216’ 1”) to earn gold in the event. The Wisconsin native also won the shot put with a mark of 15.75m (51’ 8.75”). She leads the League in both events, with her season-best hammer throw mark ranking third in NCAA DI.
 
Navy freshman Brian Schloeder garnered Patriot League Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Rookie of the Week honors after winning the pole vault at the Star meet with a mark of 4.98m (16’ 0.5”). He leads all Patriot League freshmen in the event. Bucknell’s Alex Lea earned Patriot League Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Rookie of the Week honors after winning the 400m with a time of 54.74 at the Colonial Relays. Lea leads the Patriot League in the event.
 
Army West Point’s Mikayla Cheney and Nathan Davis, Bucknell’s Noelani Sadler, Lehigh’s Grace Kennedy, Loyola Maryland’s Lauryn Clarke and Navy’s Renny Murphy and Sheldon Ulmer garnered honorable mention nods this week.
 
Patriot League Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Nathan Kent, Navy, Jr., Sprints, Rocklin, Calif./Rocklin
*Kent earned 15 points for the Mids in their 104-99 victory over Army in the Star Meet.

*She won gold for the Mids in the 100m (11.89), 400-meter hurdles (1:02.43) and 4x100-meter relay (46.20).
*The Pennsylvania native also scored in the 100-meter hurdles and 4x400-meter relay.
 
Patriot League Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Carlos Posey, Army West Point, Jr., Jumps, Sikeston, Mo./Sikeston
*Posey won the long jump with a height of 7.29m (23’ 11”).
*He also placed second in the high jump with a mark of 2.07m (6’ 9.5”), which ranks 68th in NCAA DI.
*The high jump mark is tied for first in the League, while the long jump mark ranks third.
 
Patriot League Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Emily Fink, Army West Point, Sr., Throws, Three Lakes, Wisc./Three Lakes  
*Fink won the hammer throw (65.86m | 216’ 1”) and shot put (15.75m | 51’ 8.75”) at the Army Navy Star Meet.
*The hammer throw mark broke the Star Meet and Ingram Field records.
*Fink ranks third in NCAA DI in the hammer throw.
 
Patriot League Men’s Rookie of the Week
Brian Schloeder, Navy, Fr., Pole Vault, Buffalo, Minn./Rockford
*Schloeder won the pole vault with a height of 4.98m (16’ 0.5”) to earn 5 points at the Star meet,
 
Patriot League Women’s Rookie of the Week
Alex Lea, Bucknell, Fr., Sprints, Center Valley, Pa./ Southern Lehigh
*Lea won the 400m with a time of 54.74, which leads the Patriot League.
*The mark is the second-fastest in Bucknell history.
 
Honorable Mention
Nathan Davis, Army West Point, Jr., Distance, East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia
*Davis won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Army Navy Star meet with a time of 8:51.38.
*He also logged a 14:16.36 mark in the 5,000m.
 
Mikayla Cheney, Army West Point, So., Distance, New Castle, Colo./Coal Ridge
*Cheney won the 800m (2:08.58) and 1,500m (4:19.77) at the Star meet to earn 10 points for the Black Knights.
*She leads the Patriot League in both events.
 
Noelani Sadler, Bucknell, Fr., Hurdles, Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity
*Sadler set a Bucknell record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.13.
*She finished fifth in the event and leads all freshmen in the Patriot League.
 
Grace Kennedy, Lehigh, Jr., Sprints, Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood
*Kennedy two individual events and a relay, scoring 15 team points in Lehigh's dual win over Lafayette.
*She won gold in the 200m (25.95), 400m (56.07) and 4x400-meter relay (4:07.10).
 
Lauren Clarke, Loyola Maryland, Jr., Sprints, Damascus, Md./Damascus
*Clarke earned gold in the 200m (24.53) for the second-straight weekend.
*She also ran on the Greyhounds 4x100-meter relay team that took fourth in the third-fastest time in school history (47.23).
 
Renny Murphy, Navy, Sr., Javelin, Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area Senior
*Murphy had an impressive throw in the javelin that broke a school record (52.95m / 173' 9").
 
Sheldon Ulmer, Navy, So., Jumps, Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford
*Ulmer won gold in the high jump at the Army Navy Star meet, clearing 2.07m (6’ 9.5”)
*His mark is tied for first in the Patriot League and ranks 68th in NCAA DI.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2024-25 Patriot League Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held in Worchester, Mass. at the College of the Holy Cross. Events at Hart Track begin Friday, May 2, and conclude on Saturday, May 3. All nine men's programs and each of the 10 women's teams will compete.
