Patriot League Announces M-F Athletic Indoor Track and Field Weekly Honors (2.17.26)

Army West Point, Boston University and Navy receive weekly awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Boston University collected four of the six Patriot League M-F Athletics Indoor Track and Field weekly awards, when the League office announced the honors on Tuesday. Army West Point and Navy each received one award.

Boston University’s Thomas Cowan garnered his third Patriot League M-F Athletic Indoor Men’s Track Athlete of the Week honors of the season. The sophomore clocked a time of 1:46.83 in the 800m, which leads the Patriot League and ranks tied for 18th in NCAA Division I.

For the second time this season, Terriers’ sophomore Iman Roka earned Patriot League M-F Athletic Indoor Women’s Track Athlete of the Week recognition. Roka won the 60m hurdles and finished 11th in the 60m at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.

Navy sophomore Wyatt Shaw collected Patriot League M-F Athletic Indoor Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after winning the long jump and placing second in the high jump at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational.

Boston University senior Ellie Roan received Patriot League M-F Athletic Indoor Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors for the third time this season. Roan won the weight throw and placed second in the shot put at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.

Army West Point freshman Todd Worth was named Patriot League M-F Athletic Indoor Men’s Rookie of the Week after placing sixth in the 800m and 29th in the mile at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.

For the second straight week, BU freshman Samantha Lascelles was selected as the Patriot League M-F Athletic Indoor Women’s Rookie of the Week.

Honorable mentions went to American’s Emmett Engelhardt, Army West Point’s Claire Lewis, Robert Manse and Sabrina Sardar, Colgate’s Melinda Haagensen and Holy Cross’ Liam Lyons.

Patriot League Indoor Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Thomas Cowan, Boston University, So., Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake Boys

*Cowan recorded a third-place finish in the 800m at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational with a school record time of 1:46.83.
*The sophomore’s performance leads the Patriot League, is ranked tied for 18th nationally, and tied the New Zealand indoor national record.

Gymnasium am Augarten
*Roka placed first in the 60m hurdles and 11th in the 60m at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
*The sophomore’s 60m hurdles time of 8.34 ranks second all-time at Boston University, first in the Patriot League and 72nd in NCAA Division I.

Patriot League Indoor Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Wyatt Shaw, Navy, So., Marshall, Va./Fauquier

*Shaw won the long jump and placed second in the high jump at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational.
*The sophomore’s long jump mark of 7.52m is the second-best in program history, ranks first in the Patriot League and tied for 55th in NCAA Division I.

Ellie Roan, Boston University, Sr., Sebastopol, Calif./West County

*Roan captured the weight throw title and finished second in the shot put at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
*The senior’s throw of 21.45 in the weight throw leads the Patriot League and ranks tied for 18th in NCAA Division I.

Patriot League Indoor Men’s Rookie of the Week
Todd Worth, Army West Point, Fr. Helotes, Texas/San Antonio Antonian High School

*Worth placed sixth in the 800m and 29th in the mile at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
*The freshman’s 800m time of 1:50.64 ranks fifth in the Patriot League and is fastest among freshmen.

Patriot League Indoor Women’s Rookie of the Week
Samantha Lascelles, Boston University, Fr., Christchurch, New Zealand/St. Margaret’s College

*Lascelles earned her second straight Women’s Rookie of the Week honor following an 11th place finish in the 800m at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
*The freshman’s 800m time of 2:08.20 is fourth in the Patriot and Boston University history.

*Engelhardt clocked a time of 4:09.92 in the mile at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, which ranks 16th in the Patriot League and second fastest among freshman.

*Lewis recorded a sixth-place finish in the mile at the Crimson Open and 59th in the 3,000m at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.

*The senior’s mile time of 4:54.76 ranks second in the Patriot League.
Robby Manse, Army West Point, Sr., Middletown, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy
*Manse won both the shot put (17.46m) and weight throw (19.62m) at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
*The senior maintains his lead in the Patriot League in both events.

Sabrina Sardar, Army West Point, Fr., Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough
*Sardar notched a sixth-place finish in the 400m at the Crimson Open and 16th in the 800m at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
*The freshman’s 800m time of 2:08.90 is seventh in the Patriot League.

Melinda Haagensen, Colgate, Jr., Westborough, Mass./Westborough
*Haagensen earned gold in the pole vault at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational after clearing the bar at a school-record height of 4.05m.
*The junior’s mark is tied for first in the Patriot League.

Liam Lyons, Holy Cross, Sr., Irvington, N.Y./Irvington
*Lyons smashed his school record in the mile at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational with a time of 3:54.98.
*The senior’s mark is the fastest in the Patriot League, 26th in NCAA Division I and the U-23 Irish record.

PATRIOT LEAGUE INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS 
The 2025-26 Patriot League Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held in Boston, Mass., at the BU Track & Tennis Center beginning Saturday, Feb. 28 and concluding on Sunday, Mar. 1. All nine men's programs and each of the 10 women's teams will compete.
