Patriot League Baseball Players of the Week Announced (4.20.26)

Navy’s Cripe and Army West Point’s Ates receive weekly honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy freshman infielder Tyler Cripe was selected as Patriot League Baseball Player and Rookie of the Week when the League office announced honors Monday. Army West Point senior right-handed pitcher Trey Ates earned Patriot League Pitcher of the Week.
 
Navy’s Cripe collected Patriot League Baseball Player and Rookie of the Week honors for the first time. In a four-game sweep over Holy Cross, the freshman infielder batted .467 (7-for-15) with two home runs, five RBIs and five runs to help the Midshipmen clinch a berth in the Patriot League Championship.   
 
Army West Point’s Ates received his first Patriot League Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. He allowed one run on five hits with a career-high eight strikeouts in a nine-inning complete game to earn the win in a 5-1 decision over Bucknell.
 
Army West Point freshman RHP/OF/DH Josiah Overbeek, Lafayette junior C Brandon Doubek and junior RHP Tristan Helmick, Lehigh senior RHP Cole Leaman and Navy junior RHP Brady Bendik received honorable mentions for their performances last week.

*Cripe batted .467 (7-for-15) with two home runs, five RBIs and five runs to lead Navy to a four-game sweep at Holy Cross to clinch a berth in the four-team Patriot League Championship field.
*He went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs and two RBIs in a 10-4 win in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader.
*He combined to go 4-for-9 with one home run, three RBIs and two runs to help sweep Saturday’s doubleheader over the Crusaders.

*Ates allowed one run on five hits in a nine-inning complete-game to earn the win in the Black Knights’ 5-1 victory over Bucknell.
*The senior right-hander struck out a career-high eight batters and walked two, using 121 pitches to toss Army West Point’s third complete game of the season.
*After allowing a run in the fifth inning, Ates did not allow a hit to the final 16 Bison batters.

Josiah Overbeek, Army West Point, Fr., RHP/OF/DH, Weatherford, Texas/Anderson
*Overbeek batted .313 (5-for-16), slugged .875 and posted a .500 on-base percentage with three home runs, five RBIs and eight runs scored to help Army West Point go 4-1 last week, including taking three-of-four games against Bucknell. He homered in both games of Saturday’s doubleheader. He also pitched three scoreless innings to earn the win in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader.
 
Brandon Doubek, Lafayette, Jr., C, Maplewood, N.J./Columbia
*Doubek batted .389 (7-for-18) with one home run, nine RBIs and three runs to help Lafayette split a four-game series with Lehigh last week. He went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the Leopards’ 4-2 win over the Mountain Hawks on Friday.
 
Tristan Helmick, Lafayette, Jr., RHP, Fort Washington, Pa./La Salle
*Helmick earned the win in Lafayette’s 4-2 decision over Lehigh on Friday, striking out a career-high 14 batters through 7.0 innings. He allowed two runs on five hits and walked two.  
 
Cole Leaman, Lehigh, Sr., RHP, Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson
*Leaman earned the win in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader against Lafayette, allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits over 6.0 innings. He struck out 10 and walked three in the victory.  
 
Brady Bendik, Navy, Jr., RHP, State College, Pa./State College
*Bendik threw a seven-inning complete-game to earn the win in a 3-2 victory over Holy Cross on Friday. The junior right-hander allowed two runs, one earned, on six hits while striking out five and walking three.
